Assistant Professor (Lecturer)

https://utah.peopleadmin.com/postings/92296The University of Utah Asia Campus (UAC) invites applicants for a new faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor (Lecturer). This position will teach both Fall 2019 and Spring 2020 semesters at the Incheon, Korea campus with a contract renewable upon mutual agreement.

Responsibilities:
All courses are taught in English as expectations for this position include seven (7) courses: three (3) courses during the Fall and four (4) during the Spring. In addition, our department values active learning pedagogies and the use of technology in the classroom as it provides cooperative learning environments while encouraging student collaboration and peer-to-peer teaching.

Fall 2019 classes will include the following:
• CHEM 1210 (General Chemistry I)
• CHEM 1215 (General Chemistry Lab I)
• One (1) Physical/Life Science course from the menu below.
- CHEM 1010 – Chemistry, Humanity, and the Environment (3)
- CHEM 1020 – Culinary Chemistry: The Science of Food and Cooking (3)
- CHEM 1130 – Integrated Chemistry for Health Sciences (5)

Spring 2020 classes will include:
• CHEM 1210 (General Chemistry I)
• CHEM 1215 (General Chemistry Lab I)
• CHEM 1220 (General Chemistry II)
• CHEM 1225 (General Chemistry Lab II)

Qualifications:
Those interested in applying must have a Master of Science (M.S.), or an earned Doctorate in their discipline. Teaching experience is also essential, as the final candidate must be approved by the Chemistry Department in Salt Lake City.

Benefits:
Salary is commensurate with experience. Free housing, as well as a health benefit plan, will be provided for duration of the time in Korea. Travel to and from Korea is provided by the UAC.

Note: This 10-month position requires relocation to South Korea. As a condition of employment, the faculty member must be able to get a valid work visa for South Korea.

Location:
This position is located at the University of Utah Asia Campus (UAC) in Incheon (Songdo area), South Korea (http://songdoibd.com/). Along with Ghent University, George Mason University, and Stony Brook University (SUNY), the University of Utah is one of the founding institutions of the Incheon Global Campus (IGC). All students spend three years studying at the UAC in South Korea and one year studying in Salt Lake City. All graduating students at UAC receive a University of Utah degree. Currently, the UAC offers five undergraduate majors in communication, psychology, film and media arts, civil and environment engineering, and urban ecology and two graduate programs in public health and biomedical informatics.
