Central Ohio Technical College is seeking nominations and applications for the position of Provost. The Provost is a new position, reporting directly to the President, and serving as an executive officer on the President's Cabinet. The Provost is the chief academic and enrollment officer and provides overall leadership for academics, student affairs, and enrollment management at COTC, striving toward excellence in teaching and learning.
The successful candidate is an experienced leader with a clear, focused commitment to teaching, learning, and academic excellence to promote student success. This candidate is a creative, visionary leader who will inspire faculty, staff, students, and the community with the ability to create and maintain strong relationships and build trust and consensus with college and community constituents. The candidate is an innovative & critical thinker, who seeks innovative solutions, has outstanding interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, and is dedicated to transparency. The candidate is highly ethical, trustworthy, credible, loyal, and is respectful of diverse views and opinions, including a commitment to intentional institutional work in equity, diversity, and inclusion. This seasoned professional fosters cohesion and a sense of working together for the good of the college, and is committed to the effective use of technology within academic and administrative environments while maintaining focus on the importance of sustainability. The person should have the ability to act as a catalyst for campus creativity, innovation, and progress that will build on COTC’s legacy of providing an engaged, robust, and experiential educational relationship for students.
Summary of Duties:
The provost serves as the chief academic and enrollment officer of the college, providing vision and leadership for the institution’s overall educational program. Reporting to the college president, the provost has primary leadership responsibilities for planning, implementing, and coordinating an effective and inclusive academic program. The provost works closely with academic deans, faculty, and other administrators to address educational policy, instructional planning, program review, assessment of student learning, accreditation and self-evaluation, academic personnel actions, resource planning, and allocation, and faculty development. The provost works collaboratively with faculty and staff in strengthening a culture committed to the success of all students, building a comprehensive system of Guided Pathways, enhancing transfer and workforce partnerships, supporting a broad range of student support and retention programs, implementing a strategic enrollment management plan, and promoting innovation and educational leadership. The provost also works with the president to provide overall leadership for the college’s enrollment, student success and engagement, retention, equity, diversity and inclusion, and Guided Pathways efforts.
The provost provides leadership over the following areas of the college:
—General Education and Transfer Programs;
•Office of Student Affairs;
•Enrollment Management/The Gateway (One-Stop Enrollment Management Center, including advising, admissions, and student records);
•Center for Student Success
• Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning;
• Teaching Experience;
• Five years of senior-level academic administrative experience in higher education;
• A record of collaboration, critical to being part of a college setting and broader system; and
• Successfully, pass a criminal history background check prior to employment.
Requires successful completion of a background check.
• Doctoral degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning;
• Community college teaching or senior administrative experience;
• Experience as a faculty lead, department chair, or dean;
• Experience working in unionized faculty environments;
• Experience and leadership in serving, advocating for, collaborating with, and representing underrepresented and marginalized communities; and
• Experience creating equitable, inclusive, and responsive academic programming.
