Associate Director/Director of Graduate Admissions & Global Engagement

Associate Director/Director of Graduate Admissions and Global Engagement

School of Law

Administrative position with responsibility for marketing, recruitment, and yield of LL.M. students globally, as well as admissions operations, communication, and reporting. Serves as a liaison to international partner schools, and administers visiting faculty programs, short-term study abroad courses and programs, and other activities related to institutional partnerships. Supports St. John's Law faculty teaching short courses abroad and is a primary relationship manager for international alumni.


Recruit law students to St. John's University School of Law for all LL.M. and legal English programs. Work with partner schools to achieve saturation applicant classes pursuant to MOUs. Manage consultants and agents who assist with international student recruitment. Develop and implement communication plan with prospects, applicants, and admitted students. Serve as the relationship manager for partner schools by developing and maintaining strong relationships with key personnel and St. John's University School of Law alumni through regular communications, visits, and programming.

Reporting to the Director of Graduate Studies, this position is accountable for scheduling seasonal recruitment travel and activities for the Office of Graduate Studies. Spend between 20 - 30% of time traveling internationally to recruit students and engage alumni. Develop relationships with new agents, partner schools, and EducationUSA branches globally. Serve as key international ambassador for St. John's University School of Law.

Oversee admissions operations, communications and reporting functions. Ensure the quality of the student application experience through program selection advisement and regular follow-up. Serve as Superuser for Slate, ACES (law admissions database), and Banner. Serve as liaison with the St. John's University International Student and Scholar Services Offices to facilitate the U.S. visa application process for admitted students. Oversee pre-arrival support programs for incoming students.

With the Graduate Studies Career Advisor, cultivate relationships with alumni and potential employers globally. Develop communication and engagement plan with alumni to cultivate a relationship in which they serve as recruiters on our behalf. Develop data reporting process for LL.M. alumni contacts and career outcomes.


  • 3-5 years experience with increasingly progressive levels of responsibility in legal, professional, or academic environment required; 5-7 years experience preferred.
  • Requires a JD, LLB or other equivalent first degree in law or significant recruiting/admissions experience.
    • Must possess strong student advising and customer service skills; and basic budgeting and reporting skills.
    • Cultural competency, willingness to travel,and ability to represent St. John's University School of Law across multiple cultures and regions is required.
    • Experience presenting in front of student groups and working with faculty, Deans or other senior personnel preferred.
    • Must possess excellent project management, time management, problem-solving and organizational skills; as well as initiative, creativity, resourcefulness, and attention to detail.
    • Advanced skill level required for the use of Microsoft Office.
    • Advanced skill level preferred for the use of Slate, ACES (law admissions database), Banner, and Salesforce (or other customer relationship management software).
    • Experience studying or working abroad strongly preferred.
    • Must be able to travel, at times extensively. Some night and weekend work is required.
