The San Diego Community College District is accepting applications for an Contract Instructor, Learning Center, Interdisciplinary Studies (Non-Credit)/Institutional FLEX and Professional Development Coordinator, 100%, 11-month assignment. The current vacancy exists in Continuing Education and applicants should understand that they may be assigned to any Continuing Education campus. Assignments may include day, evening, and/or weekend hours, and/or off-campus responsibilities. Selected candidate must be willing to adjust work days/hours based on the department's needs. (This may be a split assignment between several campuses.)

Major Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Vice President of Instruction, the Flex and Professional Development Coordinator provides coordination, programing, and support for campus Flex and institution-wide professional development. The Flex and Professional Development Coordinator will provide direction for instructional curriculum development needs and opportunities to foster equity and excellence in teaching and learning; develop training materials; arrange professional development workshops and evaluate them; identify training consultants and conduct on-campus training; identify conferences for faculty/staff to attend to support grant activities; and, conduct training needs assessments to determine optimal scheduling and participation and satisfaction rates. This position facilitates SDCEs Flex Day professional development for faculty and staff, chairs the Professional Development Flex Sub-Committee, and integrates Flex Day professional development with strategic planning objectives. The Flex and Professional Development Coordinator will be responsible for leading the planning, coordinating, and promotion of SDCEs professional learning for all employees. As part of these duties the coordinator will: Fulfill the responsibilities of a Continuing Education instructor in accordance with the Continuing Education Instructor Classification Description Manage professional learning resources (including budgets, supplies, technologies, and activities) Provide guidance and assessment to programs and initiatives requesting assistance with training and workshops Research, develop, implement, track and assess professional learning activities for all campus employees Foster excellence in teaching and learning across the campus Represent San Diego Continuing Education at Professional Learning seminars and conferences; remain current with trends in Professional Learning; integrate trends into programs for faculty, classified professionals, and administrative staff Communicate and monitor professional learning resources available to the campus Co-chair or Chair SDCEs Professional Development Committee Participate in various college committees to assist in shared governance Organize and coordinate flex day activities; identify and arrange for speakers; provide leadership and coordination of live and mediated activities; coordinate orientation for new and continuing staff Manage and coordinate the FLEX operations including the Flex tracking systems, posting, and tracking of instructional flex opportunities and hours

Qualifications:
A Bachelors degree from a regionally accredited institution in any social science, humanities, mathematics, or natural science discipline or in liberal studies, as appropriate for the course;ORPossession of a full-time, clear Designated Subjects Adult Education Teaching Credential authorizing instruction in Learning Center, Interdisciplinary StudiesORThe equivalent.

Desired Qualifications:
1. Experience coordinating and facilitating a professional development program including professional development workshops 2. Experience evaluating professional development workshops 3. Experience developing and evaluating curriculum, teaching materials, and training materials 4. Experience coordinating and facilitating a FLEX program at a community college 5. Experience coordinating, developing and facilitating college FLEX days 6. Experience managing and tracking FLEX activities and instructor hours at a community college 7. Knowledge of the emerging trends in facilitation, professional development, and noncredit education 8. Experience with multi-media technologies, distance learning, and the Internet; and experience incorporating these into teaching to enhance student outcomes 9. Skill in working cooperatively with staff, students, industry, and the community 10. Experience teaching interdisciplinary studies, including courses in College and Career Readiness 11. Experience in, or be qualified to provide direction for, instructional curriculum development needs and opportunities to foster equity and excellence in teaching and learning

Licenses:


Pay Information:
Class 0, Step A Class 6, Step C ($5,503.25 $7,793.19) per month based on the current AFT Continuing Education Faculty Salary Schedule.

Initial salary placement for this Assistant Professor is commensurate with required education and related teaching experience as outlined in section A2.1 of the AFT Faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement and it is non-negotiable. The District offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package including employer paid medical, dental, vision plans, sick leave, and opportunities for professional development. This position is FLSA Exempt and may not accrue overtime. Benefits will be provided under the terms of the AFT-Guild, Local 1931 Faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement. Annual Salaries will be recalculated for service less than a full academic year based on Education Code 87815, any required adjustment will be made with-in the first pay period. Travel reimbursement for interviewees traveling more than 200 miles, one-way, may be paid according to geographic location (see SDCCD Travel Stipend Policy, Rev 7/14/2011).
