Assistant Director, Student Development (Transfer)

FLSA Status: Exempt

Job Summary:
The Assistant Director, Student Development (Transfer) is responsible for the coordination and implementation of transfer programming to connect students to resources and developmental programs to promote their persistence and success.
Duties and Essential Job Functions:
Manages and executes existing Transfer initiatives such as Transfer Call Campaigns, social and resource connection programming and communications.
Collaborates with the First Year Experience team to assist with transfer orientation and Frog Camps and Frogs First activities which are focused on transfer students.
Meets with students on a 1-1 basis or in small groups to address barriers to success (potentially as a Student Success Coach focused on transfer students).
Participates in ongoing research and education on best practices in transfer (and related student populations, e.g. veterans, non-traditional) student success and share this knowledge with the TCU campus.
Collaborates with the TCU Admissions team to be knowledgeable in the recruitment and admission practices and processes in order to assist potential and incoming transfers.
Assists with occasional recruiting and yielding events such as Mondays at TCU, TCU at TCC, Transfer Day at TCU, scholarship receptions, etc.
Supervises a graduate assistant and the student leadership team.
Travels with students to attend and present at the Transfer Summit, a yearly student leadership conference.
Engages with campus and local community on behalf of Student Development Services by assisting with transitional programming initiatives.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:
Required Education and Experience:
Master's Degree in Higher Education, Student Personnel Services, Leadership Development, or a related field of study.
2 years of program management experience in a higher education environment including, but not limited to, advising, teaching, or facilitating student development and experiential education.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of customer service techniques.
Skill in instruction, facilitation, and training techniques.
Skill in effective public speaking.
Skill in organization with attention to details.
Skill in effective written and verbal communication of complex information that is accurate, timely and based on sound judgment.
Skill in the use of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel and Outlook.
Ability to apply student development theory to planning, marketing, and implementing events and programs.
Ability to advise, mentor, and supervise student leaders.
Ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):
Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs.
Work Environment:
Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.

The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
