Academic Advisor II, Undergraduate Academic Services

The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) office of Undergraduate Academic Services (UAS) provides all academic services for the undergraduate student population in the College of Arts & Sciences. CAS, on the Newark campus, enrolls 7,000 students in 82 majors and 76 minors offered by 23 academic departments along with 27 interdisciplinary programs and centers. Each year CAS, UAS coordinates and facilitates New Student Orientation (NSO) for over 1,400 new students and graduation review for 2,500 undergraduate students during 4 annual degree conferral cycles, granting over 1,700 bachelor's degrees annually.

Under the general direction of an assigned Academic Program Manager (APM) in the Assistant Dean's Office in the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), Undergraduate Academic Services (UAS), the Academic Advisor II role will be responsible for the academic advisement of current CAS students, as well as providing advising and support to incoming students during New Student Orientation (NSO). The Academic Advisor II will work cooperatively with other members of the CAS faculty and staff, and other on-campus units, and maintain regular contact with academic departments at the University in order to provide accurate information to students pursuing undergraduate degrees in the college.

The Academic Advisor II is responsible for providing academic advisement to CAS's undergraduate student population and will be assigned to serve students within designated CAS academic departments The Academic Advisor II assists with programs and events for prospective students, as well as with programs and advisement for entering freshmen and transfer students, providing advisement and support to these student populations during their first two years beginning with NSO. The position will also assist in verifying accuracy of degree audits and program requirements. The Academic Advisor II works closely with and directly reports to an Academic Program Manager (APM) in CAS, UAS, to address student issues and concerns, and to verify that advising policies and procedures are being followed.
