Director of the School of Nurse Anesthesia

Texas Christian University, Harris College of Nursing and Health Sciences, seeks an innovative leader and clinical scholar for our next Director of the School of Nurse Anesthesia (professional practice faculty, associate/full professor). The director is the senior leader of the academic unit and serves as liaison between the school and the dean of the college.

ACADEMIC & LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES - The director is responsible for providing:
  • strategic leadership and planning
  • program development
  • resource management
  • student support services
  • curricula
  • oversight of accreditation
  • faculty/staff appointments including promotion and tenure recommendations
  • onboarding and developing faculty and staff, and
  • the advancement of the school's mission and goals.
QUALIFICATIONS - For consideration, candidates must possess:
  • an earned doctoral degree in nurse anesthesia practice, nursing practice, or a doctor of philosophy in an appropriate discipline
  • possess a current license or privilege to practice as a registered professional nurse and/or APRN in the state/territory/jurisdiction of residence, and
  • possess current certification/recertification by the NBCRNA
DEMONSTRATED SUCCESS - Successful candidates must have a proven record of accomplishment that includes:
  • leadership including engaging communication skills
  • demonstrated empathy in leadership and teaching, and
  • the ability and desire to be better together to achieve a shared vision
