Simmons University is seeking a Maintenance Technician to work as part of a team responsible for the maintenance of all University facilities by providing general labor in the support of the property operations. Under the direction of the Operations Supervisor, the Maintenance Technician would be responsible for the completion of work requests, maintenance projects, and operational assignments. The ideal candidate must maintain a positive attitude, provide exceptional customer service and work effectively individually and on teams.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Complete work requests including, but not limited to, changing light bulbs, installing shelving, white boards, pictures, and other wall hangings, unlocking doors, repairing plumbing, adjusting temperature controls, performing routine maintenance on HVAC and other equipment;
  • Assist with office renovations, painting, new ceiling installation, walls, doorways, counter tops, etc.;
  • Assemble materials using hand and power tools;
  • Install and perform repairs to systems and equipment including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, heating, plumbing, doors, locks, windows, appliances, and surfaces in support of college operations, including special events;
  • Perform building and equipment inspections;
  • Comply with all safety standards and codes;
  • Complete all required administrative paperwork;
  • Provide oral and/or email communication with building occupants regarding work requests and maintenance projects;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED required;
  • Minimum of 1 year of related work experience required;
  • Valid Driver's License required;
  • Completion of trade courses or related experience in plumbing, carpentry, electrical is preferred;
  • Ability to use many types of tools including tape measure, level, hand tools, power tools, etc.;
  • Good customer relations and communications skills.
