Job Summary
Skidmore College is seeking talented professionals to join its Advancement Division to help complete Creating Our Future: The Campaign for Skidmore and be part of efforts to substantially increase philanthropic support for the College's mission. Please consider joining a team of 60 experienced staff who exemplify dedication, excellence, creativity, and enthusiasm.

The Director of Parent & Family Giving is responsible for developing and managing long-term philanthropic relationships with the parents and family members of students and alumni who have the capacity to make six- and seven-figure gifts to support the College's educational mission and strategic priorities. The Director will plan and execute sophisticated engagement and solicitation strategies resulting in new gifts of $2M+ annually. The successful candidate will be adept at working with and establishing trust with a broad array of people from diverse backgrounds and with varying degrees of familiarity with philanthropic giving. In addition, the Director will be particularly capable of engaging credibly with executive-level individuals in the fields of business, finance, and law.

The Director will collaborate with the offices of Admissions and Student Affairs, Alumni Affairs, and various academic departments and programs across campus to develop fundable opportunities, and will also work closely with Trustees, senior administrators, faculty, staff, volunteers, and donors and their advisors to secure high-level gifts for the college. The Director will manage an Associate Director, Parent & Family Giving and collaborate with the Director of Parent & Family Programs.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree with 5 or more years of commensurate experience in fundraising or a similar field such as sales or marketing.

Preferred Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a history of securing major and principal gifts (or large orders); possess good judgment, discretion, and sensitivity; possess strong interpersonal, public-speaking, writing, and time and personnel management skills; be an effective negotiator and self-motivated.
