Communications Coordinator IBGC Fletcher

Department Summary:

The Fletcher School is the United States' first professional graduate school of international affairs. Since 1933 Fletcher's multi-disciplinary education in international relations, law, and business, has prepared the world's leaders to become innovative problem-solvers in government, private sector, and non-governmental organizations. The Fletcher School seeks to fulfill its mission in the most environmentally sensible way possible.

Established in 2007, the Institute for Business in the Global Context (IBGC) was founded with the purpose of bringing the world of business to the world. The IBGC offers executive education, custom research, consulting, conferences and speakers, as well as lab experiences such as the D-Prize venture poverty solution competition. Specific content areas of focus include Digital evolution, Inclusive business and sovereign wealth and global capital flows. The 2-year Master of International Business (MIB) is part of the IBGC's education portfolio. In May 2019, IBGC will launch the Global Business Administration degree, which meets the needs of highly talented, promising students whose circumstances preclude them from partaking in the traditional, in-residence graduate school experience. This digitally mediated program, which combines graduate-level study in business with international affairs, affords the opportunity to earn a degree using cutting-edge technology and production while remaining in the job market and without uprooting one's life. Tufts University Communications Coordinators provide advanced level support in promoting effective communications across the department, school or division. S/he assists in the development of print materials and messaging including proofreading, editing and drafting communications materials. S/he assists in the design and layout of publications and coordinates publicity materials, advertising and public relations for events. In addition, s/he assists in creating, monitoring and updating website, drafts social media posts and monitors activity and triages or refers media inquiries to appropriate party.

Job Summary:

The Communications Coordinator assists with budgets, special projects and provides general administrative support as necessary. Specifically for this position: The Communications Coordinator in IBGC provides advanced level support of IBGC's communications and marketing efforts. S/he develops high-quality content - both for print and digital - which includes concept creation, messaging, writing, layout, design, and final editing. S/he creates marketing and advertising content and materials, manages content calendars and distribution plans, and coordinates public relations efforts for IBGC programming and events. In addition, s/he is responsible for IBGC's digital presence, including building and maintaining the IBGC website and respective microsites using Content Management Systems, managing social media channels, and writing and managing content for the IBGC blog. S/he coordinates work with outside vendors, consultants, and Fletcher's communications and marketing team. The Communications Coordinator also assists with budgets, special projects, and other tasks as assigned. Qualifications:

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in related area of study or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 0-1 year communications experience.





Preferred Requirements:

  • We are seeking a colleague who takes ownership, generates new ideas, and is able to take those ideas from concept to reality with the supervision of IBGC leadership and the support of the team. This is an independent role within a collaborative environment.
  • Work experience in communications, marketing, PR, and/or social me dia.
