Responsibilities

The main responsibility for this position is teaching four 3-credit courses per semester. The courses will be determined by the needs of the department. The usual needs are: Computer Science I and II, Programming Languages, Calculus, Pre-Calculus, Mathematics for Liberal Arts, and Computer Science for Liberal Arts (see courses CSC 1400, CSC 1410, CSC 2450, MTH 1000, MTH 1310, MTH 1320, CSC 1000, MTH 1260, MTH 1220 on pages 73-76 in https://www.stjohns.edu/academics/schools-and-colleges/bulletins/undergraduate-bulletin ). There are also some related duties, including holding office hours, participating in teaching related meetings and other activities needed for student recruitment and success.



Qualifications

Applicants should possess a PhD in Mathematics, Computer Science, Education, or a closely related field. Preference will be given to candidates with evidence of teaching experience in Mathematics and Computer Science. It is expected that the position will be renewable. High quality teaching is essential for renewal of the position for the subsequent years. Candidates who have Ph. D. in Mathematics or Computer Science and, in addition, have an active research agenda in Mathematics or Computer Science will be considered for a tenure-track position when one becomes available.
