Graduate Student Worker, Institute for Policy Research

Graduate Student Worker

The Institute for Policy Research (IPR) is seeking a graduate student worker for an hourly position to assist senior IPR researchers on grant and contract research. Research responsibilities include maintaining and analyzing project data bases, conducting literature searches and preparing literature abstracts, assisting in analysis of survey data and a longitudinal data base using SPSS and/or SAS, assisting the IPR researchers in writing research results and preparing articles and presentation materials. The graduate student worker will be responsible for managing, organizing and scheduling project activities.

The ideal candidate will meet all the following qualifications: knowledge of statistical tools such as SPSS and/or SAS. Knowledge of social science research methods is required. Coursework or experience in research design and/or social/behavioral research data analysis. Coursework or experience in one or more of the following: survey research, public policy research and social/behavioral research. Experience with computers and office productivity software (esp MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint) is required. Must have good communication skills and be detail oriented. Must display good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a team and independently. Experience working in an academic/research environment.

Minimum Qualifications
  • At least 16 years of age
  • Enrolled at a post secondary institution or a secondary school
  • Enrolled at least part-time (one or more credit hours if at a post-secondary institution), with the exception of summer term, or will be a registered student during the next academic term
