The Response Lead provides direct student and peer advocate support as part of the Campus Outreach & Advocacy project funded by a Department of Justice/Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) grant. The project aims to develop a coordinated, districtwide response protocol for PCC students who experience gender-based and interpersonal violence.

In partnership with the college Women's Resource Centers & Queer Resource Centers, the incumbent will provide advocacy, information and referral to survivors of gender-based and interpersonal violence. The Response Lead will work closely with college partners, as well as external service providers and agencies, to coordinate supportive response plans that are trauma-informed and culturally responsive. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring completion of defined activities though the grant cycle ending September 2020.

This is a Grant (Victims of Crime Act) funded position. Continuation of this position is subject to grant
renewal.
Job Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provides direct services to students experiencing gender-based and interpersonal violence, including: needs assessment, emotional support, information and referral to college and community resources, safety planning,
crisis intervention, and advocacy throughout internal (Title IX) and external (criminal) complaint and remedy procedures.

2. Supports Program Coordinator to fulfill grant project activities and objectives.

3. Assesses training, certification, and support needs for collegewide peer advocates related to their work responding to survivors of gender-based and interpersonal violence. In partnership with their supervisors,
develops and provides ongoing training and guidance to peer advocate team.

4. Assists with development of comprehensive marketing and outreach campaign - website, informational handouts, posters, outreach events, tabling, etc. - with particular emphasis on culturally and linguistically relevant information designed to improve outreach and services for underserved and marginalized populations. Staffs outreach events and coordinates staffing by peer advocates and volunteers.

5. Gathers, documents, and reports all relevant information related to services provided in support of tracking grant outcomes, project evaluation, and reporting requirements.

6. Serves on district-wide project Advisory Council and provides coordination and technical assistance to Program Coordinator to support work of Council.

7. Participates in relevant college committees/work groups related to policies, procedures and protocols that impact survivors, such as Title IX, care and conduct interventions, public safety response, etc.

8. Establishes and maintains relationships with community partners and relevant agencies to provide comprehensive information, appropriate referral, and seamless support for survivors.

9. Assists with coordinating and providing training for multiple college stakeholders to improve trauma-informed and positive response/advocacy for survivors.

10. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Candidate Profile
These qualifications, skills and abilities are critical for success in this position.
Throughout the screening process, you will be evaluated based on the demonstration of these qualifications.
  • Demonstrated advocacy experience working with gender based or interpersonal violence survivors from diverse academic, economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including those who experience a disability, are trans/queer, are a person of color, immigrant/refugee.
  • Demonstrated experience using trauma-informed practices to respond appropriately to survivors of sexual and domestic violence.
  • Knowledge and experience working around Title IX, Violence Against Women Act, and Clery regulations, guidance, and laws.
  • Experience providing culturally responsive outreach and coordination activities as well as the ability to effectively communicate to large groups/mass marketing.
  • Bilingual language proficiency in Spanish, Vietnamese (other languages may be considered).
  • Experience providing support to survivors of sexual violence, interpersonal violence, domestic violence, and gender based discrimination.
  • Demonstrated experience with crisis intervention response.
Minimum QualificationsTo be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).Bachelors degree in Education, Liberal Arts, Multicultural Studies, Womens Studies, Gender Studies, Social Justice, Sociology, Psychology, or related field. Relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.One year of experience in a diverse setting coordinating services or programs for the population served in the area of assignment.
Salary:
$44,448 to $47,615 (Step 3); based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity.

Paid Leave: (Pro-rated by FTE for Part-Time Employees)
