The Department of Teacher Education at California State University Dominguez Hills invites applications for a Tenure-track position at the rank of Academic Year Assistant or Associate Professor with the appointment starting in Fall 2019.

Department of Teacher Education
The Teacher Education Department is one of two programs within the Division of Teacher Education in the College of Education. The vision of the College is to maintain a model of collaborative urban educational excellence. In partnership with P-14 schools, we prepare deeply knowledgeable education professionals who are passionate about helping students reach their full potential and who make urban schools the places where children, families, and teachers thrive. Accredited by NCATE and CTC, the College is recognized for preparing teachers, administrators, counselors, and other specialists who work effectively with a variety of learners from diverse backgrounds, especially those living in poverty.

The Position
This position is a dual appointment with half of the duties and responsibilities related to teaching courses in education and the other half related to coordinating the college's unit assessment system.
The candidate will have a minimum of five years of experience as a successful TK-12 school teacher in urban school environments with linguistically, culturally, racially and economically diverse students, as well as, an understanding of the California Common Core State Standards and their integration into content areas.
Responsibilities
The Education duties include:
* Teaching a variety of post-graduate/graduate courses (face-to-face and online);
* Demonstrating and employing digital tools that enhance learning in all courses;
* Collaborating with faculty and public school partners in the development, review, and assessment;
* Assisting with promoting Teacher Education programs and recruiting students;
* Assisting the department with operational and/or committee work;
* Assuming college and university committee responsibilities;
* Pursuit of a research agenda related to teaching and learning, with a focus on curriculum and instruction.
The COE Assessment Coordinator duties include:
* Monitoring and managing each credential and degree program's assessment plan in a web-based data storage system;
* Preparing college level summary, based on data from various external sources and input from faculty and staff college-wide meetings;
* Preparing all external college level reports (e.g., Title II, state accreditation unit and program assessment reports);
* Overseeing the work of the Evaluation Center staff, and chairing the COE Evaluation Committee. The coordinator's responsibilities are critical to the COE's efforts to successfully complete annual program assessment reports and maintain on-going national and state accreditation.

CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
