Job Description:


Basic Function and Responsibility:

The Human Resources Diversity & Equity Training Specialist is a champion of diversity, cultural competency, equity, and inclusion. Using current evaluation and training methods to effectively communicate College policy, this role guides administrators, faculty, and staff through Oakton's selection process to meet College selection and hiring standards.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Owner of search committee training programs. Partners between HR and the Center for Professional Development to track employee training requirements and history. Coordinates scheduling of initial and refresher training. Leads formal training sessions for groups as well as leads individual training and coaching sessions.
  • Directs, advises, trains, and guides search committees with respect to search and hiring practices, affirmative action goals, and equal employment opportunity practices. Promotes a positive and effective selection process while enforcing college guidelines and policy.
  • Partners with the Office of Access, Equity, and Diversity to evaluate diversity, equity, and inclusion training needs based on employee population and college goals, especially surrounding hiring.
  • Partners with the CPD to develop, maintain, and evaluate training and development programs for employees. Specific duties may include needs assessment, recommendation of training topics, interviewing and recommending outside training consultants, writing and delivering training modules, and preparing, distributing and assessing participant evaluation forms.
  • Researches, assesses, analyzes data, and provides reporting.
  • Develops a strong understanding of the college's strategic goals and ensures training programs and projects reflect these goals.
  • Coordinates special projects and performs job related duties as assigned.

Requirements:


Hiring Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required in Human Resources, Sociology, or related field or a combination of education or equivalent work experience.
  • Two years experience in either education or corporate diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives required.
  • Two years of training experience preferred.
  • Formal training in hiring searches and affirmative action reporting and goal setting preferred.
  • Ability to concurrently manage multiple schedules, deadlines, and tasks.
  • Ability to tactfully influence others as both an adviser and enforcer of policy.
  • A high level of interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to write and present educational programs and to make presentations to large groups. Incumbent must be able to give and receive advice and opinions and interact with individuals in situations requiring sensitivity and tact.
  • Ability to interact professionally and tactfully with people of different levels of education, cultural backgrounds, and life experiences, and to exhibit respect to fellow employees and the College community at large.
  • Ability to assess development needs, deliver training across multiple mediums, and evaluate program effectiveness.

Physical Demands:

  • Light lifting up to 10 lbs. and light carrying up to 10 lbs. Ability to reach above shoulder. Periods of time spent sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending and stooping. Mobility to move from building to building on-Campus and to visit off-Campus entities. Work is performed in a general office environment. Little or no exposure to adverse working conditions.

HOURS: Monday - Friday 8:15 am - 5:00 pm

SALARY: $53,109
