The Department of Occupational Therapy at California State University Dominguez Hills invites applications for two Tenure-track positions at the rank of 12-month Assistant or Associate Professor with the appointment starting in Fall 2019.

Master of Science (MS) in Occupational Therapy Program in the Department of Occupational Therapy
The mission of the CSUDH MS in Occupational Therapy Program is to prepare entry-level clinical practitioners with knowledge, skills, and understanding necessary to practice in traditional as well as emerging occupational therapy roles with an excellent foundation for later specialization and lifelong learning.

The Master of Science in Occupational Therapy Program has been planned with enthusiasm to help prepare students for a professional career focused on helping people achieve skills and utilize resources to live independent and meaningful lives. The program is structured towards producing client-centered therapists with enhanced critical thinking abilities. It aims to produce professionals, who can research, develop, implement, and evaluate procedures utilizing a high degree of independent judgment and to consult where appropriate with other members of the health care team

The Position
This is for two 12 Month tenure-track positions in the Department of Occupational Therapy with a rank of Assistant or Associate Professors.

Responsibilities
These 12-month tenure-track positions come with the following responsibilities:
- Teaching and advising.
- Conducting scholarship in line with the mission of the department, college, and university.
- Contributing to service for the department, college, and university.
- Contributing to curriculum and program development.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • An earned post-professional doctoral degree (e.g. PhD, EdD, OTD).
  • 5 years of clinical practice in occupational therapy.
  • 2 years of teaching experience.
  • Eligible for occupational therapy (OT) licensure in California.
  • Experience in working with students from diverse age, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.
  • Qualified to teach courses at both entry-level as well as and advanced clinical-level courses.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to teaching and mentoring with ongoing or potential research projects that can foster student involvement and career opportunities.
  • Display scholarly excellence evidenced by a track record of publication and/or sound research trajectory/agenda with the potential for publications.

    Preferred /Desired Qualifications
  • A record of successful grant submissions.
  • Experience in community outreach and program development.
  • Experience in curriculum and course development.
  • Experience in supervision of students in occupational therapy fieldwork and/or residency programs.
  • Experience in student advisement and mentorship.
  • Experience in service at department, college and university levels.
  • Experience in service in the community and the profession of occupational therapy.
  • Demonstrate an active and current scholarship and engagement in community outreach.
  • Display expertise in a specialty practice area in occupational therapy (e.g. assistive technology, mental health, population health).

    Employment Requirement – Background Check
    Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
