Director of Occupational Therapy Program

Director of Occupational Therapy Program

 

DePaul University, in partnership with the national search firm Scott Healy & Associates, invites applications and nominations for the full-time Director of the Occupational Therapy Program.  The director will lead the development of the OT program, oversee the ACOTE accreditation process, and cultivate partnerships with healthcare providers in the Chicago area. The director will be the academic and administrative officer of the OT program and play a major role in shaping DePaul’s health science initiatives. This is a 12-month faculty and administrative appointment (eligible for tenure depending upon qualifications).  Initially the position will be in a department that matches the applicant’s area of expertise and involve teaching 2 courses per year in the applicant’s area of expertise. Reporting to the AVP for Health Programs, the director will be responsible for hiring faculty to staff the program and working with DePaul’s facilities team to properly build out instructional space.
 

The ideal candidate should have/be:

  • An earned Doctoral Degree in Occupational Therapy or related field (PhD, ScD, EdD, etc.);
  • A credentialed and licensed Occupational Therapist with eligibility in Illinois and minimum of 8 years of experience in the field of occupational therapy;
  • Demonstrated record of excellent scholarship and teaching;
  • Demonstrated aptitude in the ACOTE accreditation procedures;
  • Five or more years' progressive levels of leadership, responsibility and expertise in teaching, preferably in higher education;
  • At least 3 years of full-time teaching experience in a post-baccalaureate or graduate program with ACOTE accreditation;
  • Administrative experience including, but not limited to, program planning and implementation, personnel management, evaluation, and budgeting;
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching, scholarship, service and administration, in an institution of higher education;
  • Success as a creative leader and in generating external resources.
