Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Athletic Administration and a minimum of three years' equivalent/relevant experience in teaching, coaching or athletic administration

General Function:

General Purpose Responsible for overseeing all aspects of the College Athletics Department and Programs in compliance with National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), Tennessee Community College Athletic Association (TCCAA), and College regulations, policies and procedures, including recruitment and coaching. Consults, advises and coordinates frequently with the Executive Vice President, Leadership, and Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) to ensure coordination of athletic, academic, fundraising, and recruitment responsibilities.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Academics

Dean Duties -

• In collaboration with the Moore County Academic Dean, the Dean Allied Health, and the Dean of Career and Technical Programs, provide measurable improvements in the performance of students in all academic programs offered on the Moore County campus on the Quality Assurance and Performance Funding metrics established by TBR.

• In collaboration with local industry, develop partnerships with the industry leaders in the Moore County service area including conducting research on a minimum of two new programs each year and, if approved, provide an implementation plan to the Executive Vice President of Academic Affairs & Student Success (EVP).

• Maintain and enforce college policies and procedures.

• Seek grant-funding sources and sponsorships related to athletic and academic programs on the Moore County campus.

• Represent the college at regional, state, and national meetings to maintain professional growth and represent the college.

• Serve on college committees.

• Provide documentation and support for SACSCOC institutional accreditation.

• Assist with academic initiatives and reporting required by TBR.

• Assist EVP with duties and responsibilities associated with the Academic Division.

• Establish departmental policies and procedures that aid in achieving athletic goals and maintaining sound academic standards.

• Responsible for providing supervision for coaches in regard to:

• Other reasonable responsibilities assigned by the EVP.

Recruiting

• Responsible for Athletics Department's recruiting goals.

Athletics

• Acquire knowledge of and direct intercollegiate athletic programs in compliance with College, NJCAA, and TCCAA eligibility standards, with demonstrated commitment to adhering to policies/standards.

• Provide mentoring, leadership, and supervision of all coaches and other Athletics Department staff, including work study students.

• Establish effective communications and involvement with students, faculty, staff and other interested constituencies of the College in matters relating to intercollegiate athletics.

• Develop, provide and coordinate meetings, activities, etc. regarding fundraising support to flow through the Foundation.

• Equity in Athletics Designee (Title IX)

• Recommend to EVP the selection, performance, evaluation and dismissal of athletic personnel.

• Serve in an advisory capacity to the President for intercollegiate athletics.

• Responsible for athletics budget; oversee all areas of College athletics budgets.

• Responsible for daily supervision of athletics department staff, performance evaluations, and disciplinary action.

• Be present at home sporting activities; assign responsibility when schedule does not allow attendance.

• Maintain contact with coaches on travel status.

• Oversee upkeep and maintenance of Athletic Facilities.

• Responsible for maintaining policies and procedures manual for Athletics Department.

Team

• Responsible for providing supervision for coaches in regard to:

o Coaching duties.

o Assistant coaches and student assistants.

o Work study students in the Athletics Department.

o Practices and training programs.

o Team travel.

o Events management for home games/matches/meets.

o Public service and volunteer opportunities for student-athletes and coaching staff.

o Budgeting for individual programs.

o Athletic award averaging compliance.

Media Relations

• Provide managerial direction and leadership for Athletics Department promotional activities for all intercollegiate sports in cooperation with the Vice President for External Affairs & Workforce Innovation (VPEAWI).

• Actively seek public speaking engagements to promote the College and its athletics programs.

• Responsible for providing supervision for athletics staff in regard to:

o Maintaining positive/appropriate media relations.

o Securing advertising and sponsorships in accordance with College policy.

o Media guides.

o Maintaining athletics information on the College web site.

Institutional Support:

• Represent the College and the Athletics Department in College, professional, civic, charitable and alumni events.

• Collaborate with the Motlow State College Foundation office in fundraising for the Department.

• Provide supervision, leadership, and assistance to subordinates in athletic fundraising and collaboration with the Motlow State College Foundation.

• Assist in securing advertising and sponsorships in accordance with College policy, both in conjunction with the Advancement Office.

• Recommend to President and the Vice President of Business and Finance maintenance and upgrade of athletic facilities.

• Other duties as assigned.
