Archival Associate

Job Summary

CSU Libraries at Columbus State University has an opening for an Archival Associate. This position will coordinate with the head archivist in all aspects of archival operations to include processing, reference, digitization, and outreach and reports to the Head Archivist.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to: following specialized, established procedures for processing archives, acquisitions, and permanent university records; providing instruction, reference, and research assistance; participating in the maintenance and preservation/conservation of materials; training and supervising staff and student assistants as appropriate; assisting in the preparation of instructional materials, presentations, programming, and special projects; participating in relevant library, campus, professional, and continuing education activities; and all other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; and a minimum of two years' of work experience in archives or a related profession; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The successful candidate must possess a knowledge of archival theory and methodology; a knowledge of records management and retention schedules; a demonstrated proficiency with computers and software applications, such as, Microsoft Office and Photoshop; familiarity with digital asset and collections management applications such as Omeka, Archives Space, ContentDM, etc.; strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and students; a strong commitment to customer service; the ability to think creatively, take initiative, solve problems, and work independently; and the ability to lift at least thirty pounds.

Proposed Salary

The salary is commensurate with education and experience.
