Job Description Summary

Lock Haven University invites applications for a full-time, tenure track position, Director of Student Teaching and Field Experiences beginning August 17, 2019.

Essential Duties

This position will be 9 credits (75%) of Director of Student Teaching and 3 credits (25%) of teaching in the candidate's field of expertise.

The position will require meeting with students and faculty in each of the education programs regarding student teacher applications, placement of student teachers, and the field placement of other teacher education candidates.

Responsibilities also include duties related to accreditation of all teacher education programs at the University.

The base for the position is Lock Haven University Main Campus, Lock Haven, PA.

Additional requirements of the position include maintaining office hours and attendance at meetings including but not limited to department meetings, committee meetings, Lycoming County Consortium, and other meetings related to the placement of student teachers and education field placements.

This position may require development and teaching of courses online.

Specific Duties

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Placement of student teachers and other teacher education degree candidates into field experiences, teach relevant coursework in the department, and other essential duties related to the certification of all teacher education programs at LHU .

Minimum Qualifications (Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

A combination of a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Education and three or more years of teaching in a PreK-12 educational setting is required.

Certification in a content area, education subject, or or grade level;

FBI fingerprint check, PA Child Abuse Clearances, PA criminal background check, required.

The Director must travel to local schools as needed to coordinate placement of students in field experiences.

Working knowledge of NCATE / CAEP accreditation is essential for this position.

The successful candidate must be able to communicate well and/or perform well in an interview and/or teaching demonstration and successfully complete the interview process.

Preferred Qualifications

The following qualifications are desirable:

Experience in working with basic education administrators and teachers

Experience in international education settings;

Certification or experience in course development and/or teaching in an online environment.

Background Clearances

In accordance with Act 153 of 2014 (HB 435), appointment is contingent upon completion of a satisfactory background investigation which includes, but is not limited to, Act 34, Pennsylvania Criminal Record Clearance; Act 151, Child Abuse Clearance; and Act 114, Federal Bureau of Investigations ( FBI ) Criminal Background Checks.

Appointment is provisional for a single 90 day period provided the "Arrest/Conviction Report and Certification Form" and verification of your application for the three background checks are returned to Deana Hill, Associate VP for Human Resources.

Annual Security Report (Clery Act)

The Lock Haven University's Annual Security Report and Fire Safety Report are now available on-line or in paper form by request. Federal law requires these reports to contain policy statements, crime and fire safety statistics for the university. The policy statements address the university's policies, procedures, and programs concerning safety and security, i.e. policies for responding to emergency situations, fire safety procedures and statistics, and sexual offenses, etc. Three years' worth of statistics is included for certain types of crimes that were reported to have occurred on campus, in on-campus buildings, or off-campus sites property owned or controlled by the university and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to the campus.
