Administrative Assistant II

PAY GRADE: 26N

CONTEXT OF JOB:

Under general supervision, performs complex and non-routine records duties including research, analysis and compilation of statistics. Welcomes patients, visitors, faculty, and guests by greeting them in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries, optimizes patients' satisfaction, provider time, and treatment utilization by scheduling appointments in person or by telephone. The principal emphasis is on obtaining and verifying information of patient's insurance benefits. Requires independent judgment and the ability to resolve non-routine problems as well as interpret policy. Processes, researches, analyzes, compiles and maintains administrative records and accounts as needed by the Physical Therapy Clinic. Communicates with various outside entities and private individuals.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Researches and responds to routine and non-routine inquiries. Reviews, verifies and processes financial and non-financial documents. Maintains and updates a variety of complex records and controls. Corresponds verbally and in writing to obtain information and resolve non-routine issues and/or problems. Processes, reviews and analyzes reports, documents, and promissory notes to ensure conformance with University policies and/or legal guidelines and regulations. Receives, reviews and corrects error reports; analyzes non-routine problems with computing liaison. Performs computations, calculates values, develops estimates or verifies statistics. Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimally, a candidate must have completed high school or have a GED in a general academic program.
  • 2 to 3 years clerical experience in a medical setting involving public contract is required.
  • High level of accuracy, strong organizational skills, and great attention to detail are required.
  • Sensitivity to confidential matters and patient needs is vitally important.
