The Position:
Under the direction of the Nursing Supervisor and Clinic Physician, this position is responsible for delivering direct patient care to students, coordinating community and public health programming, and providing general leadership, work direction and support to registered nurses, medical assistants and clerks in order to support the overall function of the Student Health Services Office. This Masters level position will use a broad knowledge base of college health issues policies and procedures to advance department initiatives and work closely with staff, faculty, outside agencies, and community partners. This position will assist in the maintenance of an environment where employees are protected from all undue exposures to hazardous materials and blood-borne pathogens.

Major Responsibilities:
Provide patient care for common, acute and episodic conditions as well as administering emergency care and first aid. Adhere to set orders/ protocols/guidelines for a variety of items including the prescribing and onsite dispensing of medications and administration of treatment plans. Follow established protocols/orders for a client care environment. Assist student clients to obtain low cost medical care, pharmaceuticals, referrals and diagnostic tests. Order, maintain and inventory supplies, medications and prescriptions. Establish, oversee and maintain quality assurance programs, reports and data. Assist the Coordinator in SHC with program development and implementation of outreach activities. Deliver preventive health care to student clients. Gather and maintain health care data on students and analyze student healthcare data and trends. Maintain emergency equipment and supplies. Assist in the maintenance of an environment where employees are protected from all undue exposures to hazardous materials and blood-borne pathogens. Act as resource for statewide disaster planning information and protocols. Serve on institutional, district and statewide disaster and crisis committees. Present health education at informal/formal forums or classrooms Maintain standards of personal professional development to assure competency in student health and related issues. Integrate nursing science with knowledge for the highest level of nursing practice.

Qualifications:
Training and Experience:In addition to the training and experience required for the licenses and credentials, it is highlydesirable to possess an appropriate Masters degree and substantial experience as a practitioner.

Desired Qualifications:
Major factors to be evaluated for a Nurse may include:A current, active, unrestricted licensure as a Registered Nurse or Nurse Practitioner from a regionally accredited institution and be licensed/credentialed from the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN), and hold a current Public Health Nurse certificate from the California BRN.OrA current credential as a Family Nurse Practitioners must have titles from the American Nurse Credentialing Center, and would ideally have an equivalent of three years of full-time practice within the past 5 years as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

Licenses:
Valid license as a Registered Nurse and a certificate in Public Health Nursing.

Pay Information:
Class 1, Step A Class 6, Step C ($5,754.92 $7,754.42) per month based on the current AFT College Faculty Tenured- Tenured Track Monthly Salary Schedule

Initial salary placement for this Assistant Professor is commensurate with required education and related teaching experience as outlined in section A2.2 of the AFT Faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement and it is non-negotiable. The District offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package including employer paid medical, dental, vision plans, sick leave, and opportunities for professional development. This position is FLSA Exempt and may not accrue overtime. Benefits will be provided under the terms of the AFT-Guild, Local 1931 Faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement. Annual Salaries will be recalculated for service less than a full academic year based on Education Code 87815, any required adjustment will be made with-in the first pay period. Travel reimbursement for interviewees traveling more than 200 miles, one-way, may be paid according to geographic location (see SDCCD Travel Stipend Policy, Rev 7/14/2011). Typically, Assistant Professors earn tenure after 4 years and promote to Associate Professor.
