Director, Georgia Cancer Center

Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University

The Medical College of Georgia (MCG) at Augusta University (AU) is seeking applications and nominations for the position of Director, Georgia Cancer Center.

As the official cancer center for the state of Georgia, Augusta University’s Georgia Cancer Center is focused on a path of rapid growth and development, with the goal of achieving National Cancer Institute designation.  With strong state support there have been substantial investments in developing the physical structure of the Cancer Center.  The freestanding clinical and research buildings continue to collaborate toward a patient-centered approach utilizing first-in-the-nation treatment protocols, an experimental therapeutics program, and specialized clinics for state-of-the-art drug and immunotherapy clinical trials. The basic and translational research is supported by the NIH/NCI and includes the state’s only minority-focused research program. Education is also an essential part of the mission as they train the next generation of physicians and scientists to continue the work that has begun.

The next Director will inherit an exceptional foundation for the inevitable transformation of a regionally strong cancer center into one that is nationally ranked and recognized for leading edge research and exceptional clinical cancer care.

The Director must be a compelling leader whose passion for the educational, clinical, and research missions energize the faculty and staff, focusing their efforts on a strategic vision of excellence in all missions.  The new Director will be a skilled physician scientist, widely recognized in the field with a strong track record of funded, impactful research.  Candidates for this position will have an M.D., M.D./Ph.D. and leadership experience, preferably within an NCI-designated cancer center.
