Financial Aid Compliance Coordinator

PAY GRADE: 28E

DEADLINE: OPEN UNTIL FILLED

CONTEXT OF THE JOB:

Under the general direction of the Director of Financial Aid Operations and in coordination with the Compliance Specialist, the Financial Aid Compliance Coordinator is responsible for managing compliance related to all Title IV regulations. This role provides essential oversight to meet the day-to-day oversight of governmental regulations to ensure we are meeting all federal requirements in regards to our financial aid programs.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Coordinate and ensure all activities related to Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy, NSLDS Review, Pell Limits and Unusual Enrollment are completed per the regulations.
  • Identify and ensure all activities with students who graduated, withdrew, enrolled for at least less-than-half-time or stop attending (no shows) complete required regulatory actions, including but not limited to exit counseling, return to Title IV (R2T4) and any other necessary steps to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor and ensure accurate information, such as Pell and Federal loan awards, is being reported to the U.S. Department of Education (ED) within regulatory timeframes.
  • Coordinate special condition aid applications; ensure proper allocation of professional judgement appeals are consistent with policy and regulations.
  • Identify and coordinate all Return to Title IV (R2T4) Federal activities.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with Federal Work-Study activities to ensure they are meeting the Federal guidelines.
  • Monitor regulatory communications to ensure they are being issued per guidelines.
  • Coordinate activities related to consumer information disclosure requirements and regulations are sent to students as defined by the Federal regulations.
  • Coordinate activities around Clearinghouse reporting National Student Clearinghouse (NSC).
  • Monitor regulatory changes in regards to our campus based programs, such as the Perkins and Nursing.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned that support the purpose and initiatives of Enrollment Management and the University.


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree and two years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of Title IV regulations and federal student aid programs, including but not limited to Direct Loans, Pell Grants, Perkins Loans, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (FSEOG), and Federal Work Study.
  • Experience working with U.S. Department of Education (ED) and reporting to the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) and National Student Clearinghouse (NSC).
  • Excellent judgment, problem solving, diplomacy and discretion with the ability to manage confidential information.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to analyze complex information, evaluate results, and facilitate resolution of difficult challenges.
  • Detail oriented, with ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, collaborative team player.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working in a University environment preferred.
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to master a variety of software applications. Experience with word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Knowledge of all areas of financial aid, including applications, awarding and aid packaging, entrance counseling and federal verification, master promissory notes, exit counseling and repayment
