Physical Therapist

The Position: We"re looking for a Physical Therapist! Under the general supervision of the Clinical Director for DD Day Services, you will evaluate physical therapy needs of each individual and assist in the development and the implementation of appropriate therapy/programming.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate and complete Physical Therapy assessments on individuals as needed and required by Mass Health.
  • Assist in the development of support strategies to implement Physical Therapy recommendations as needed.
  • Develop and plan Physical Therapy implementation based on assessment.
  • Train staff to carryover Physical Therapy treatment plans when applicable.
  • Provide staff training on safe body mechanics and transfers as needed.
  • Review and sign off on Day Habilitation Service Needs Assessments.
  • Participate in clinical team meetings.
  • Makes recommendations to clinical team for implementation of Physical Therapy needs.
  • Coordinate wheelchair clinic monthly at Maple Street Day Hab and Boston Street Center.
  • Follow up with National Seating on wheelchair or mobility devices needs.
  • Provide written documentation for wheelchair justifications.
  • Sign off on quarterly Clinical Team Review Form.
  • Review new referral information for potential placement in day services.
  • Participate in clinical orientation for new day habilitation staff.
  • Meet with Clinical Director for DD services and other clinicians as needed.
  • Access and input information into the electronic record system.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Education/Experience:
  • Currently licensed by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Allied Health Professions
  • Have one year of work experience in a training program for persons with intellectual disabilities
Required Skills/Knowledge:
  • Knowledge and understanding of principles of normalization, behavior management and human rights.
