CONTEXT OF JOB:

The University of Delaware Early Learning Center is currently seeking a Classroom Assistant for their Preschool program. The Early Learning Center - Newark, a STAR 5, NAEYC accredited center, provides high quality care to children age 6 week to 3rd grade.

The principal emphasis of the Classroom Assistant is on providing support to the classroom teacher in implementing an educational program.

Requires a minimum of a CDA and six months experience working with children or Associate's Degree and 6 months experience working with children.

Requires basic computer skills, basic math, reading and written language skills, demonstrated human relations skills, and the ability to communicate effectively and interact well with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds

Special Requirements

Requires compliance with Delacare regulations including applicable laws and regulations. Must have prior experience and meet requirements for Office of Child Care Licensing Assistant Teacher Certificate. Successful completion of criminal background check, child protection and adult abuse registry checks, health examination and TB test. Must be able to lift up to 40lbs.
