The Position:
This is a counselor position with responsibility for the coordination of Transfer Center (TC) activities and oversight of budget and staffing of the TC.

Major Responsibilities:
Position will be responsible for coordination of Transfer Center (TC) activities and work in collaboration with the Dean of Student Development and Matriculation to provide oversight of budget and staffing of the TC. Will also prepare annual transfer reports for College and Chancellors Office, engage in the development of transfer agreements and pathways with four-year institutions, provide regular in-service training and information to the Counselors, coordinate university representative visits on campus, annual transfer fairs and transfer achievement celebration, produce the TC newsletter, maintain updated information on the TC website. Will become a member of the San Diego Educational Consortium and attend off campus conferences and meetings as necessary. Will also oversee marketing efforts promoting transfer opportunities, lead campus efforts to identify and eliminate barriers that impact retention and transfer rates.Position will also include the core functions of the counselor such as educational advising; individual and group career counseling; conducting workshops, assisting students in the process of making decisions and plans relevant to their educational, career, personal and social needs. Take charge of the annual Program Review process for the TC.

Qualifications:
Masters in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy or marriage, family and child counseling,OR the equivalent.(NOTE: A bachelors degree in one of the listed degrees and a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) is an alternative qualification for this discipline.)

Desired Qualifications:
Experience collaborating with staff to coordinate programs and services to students in a college setting. Cultural competency and skills that will lead efforts to remove barriers that impact retention and transfer of students of color.

Pay Information:
Class 1, Step A Class 6, Step C ($5,754.92 $7,754.42) per month based on the current AFT COLLEGE Faculty Tenured-Tenured Track Monthly Salary Schedule.

Initial salary placement for this Assistant Professor is commensurate with required education and related teaching experience as outlined in section A2.1 of the AFT Faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement and it is non-negotiable. The District offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package including employer paid medical, dental, vision plans, sick leave, and opportunities for professional development. This position is FLSA Exempt and may not accrue overtime. Benefits will be provided under the terms of the AFT-Guild, Local 1931 Faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement. Annual Salaries will be recalculated for service less than a full academic year based on Education Code 87815, any required adjustment will be made with-in the first pay period. Travel reimbursement for interviewees traveling more than 200 miles, one-way, may be paid according to geographic location (see SDCCD Travel Stipend Policy, Rev 7/14/2011). Typically, Assistant Professors earn tenure after 4 years and promote to Associate Professor.
