THE SEARCH

Complete College America (CCA), a national non-profit committed to reducing gaps in postsecondary attainment and success, seeks a visionary, entrepreneurial, and collaborative leader to serve as the organization’s next President. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the President is responsible for the strategic, financial, and operational leadership of the organization. Working in collaboration with a dedicated staff and external partners, the successful candidate will build upon the organization’s reputation as an advocate for structural changes to higher education that increase the number of Americans with post-secondary degrees and closes the attainment gap for traditionally underrepresented populations.

Established in 2009, CCA has been the leading voice in identifying and addressing the college completion crisis in the United States through legislative advocacy efforts, in-depth research and analysis, and more recently technical assistance programs. As CCA enters its tenth year, the next President will have the opportunity to shape the future of the organization as it continues national and state policy advocacy and helps support capacity-building initiatives at the state, local, and metropolitan-levels.

The President will be responsible for the strategic direction and operations of CCA, including overseeing a full-time staff of 12 and an annual budget of approximately $4.5 million. CCA’s new President should be a visionary and relationship-oriented organizational leader knowledgeable about postsecondary education policy, practice, and advocacy. Specifically, the next President must have a demonstrated combination of intellectual leadership, national standing, and a record of successfully mobilizing relevant stakeholders, community organizations, and donors.  This new leader should be someone with a demonstrated commitment to postsecondary education and success, particularly as it applies to students who have been traditionally underserved by higher education—Pell grant recipients, older students and students of color.  The next CCA President will exercise high emotional intelligence in inspiring and mentoring a talented and mission-driven staff in support of the organization’s strategic, programmatic, and resource-generating efforts.

CCA has engaged the search firm of Isaacson, Miller to assist with this important search. Inquiries, nominations, and applications should be directed in confidence to the firm, as indicated at the end of this document.
