University Service Associate 1

You can be a part of a team focused on student support and academic development by joining a dynamic team of student affairs professionals. We are seeking highly motivated individuals with a drive to work with and develop students to apply for University Service Associate 1 position at the University of Cincinnati.

Essential Function: Under general supervision from a designated administrator, coordinate a comprehensive (local -level) program of student services for Resident Education & Development, with support to Housing and Food Services.

Characteristic Duties:
  • Counsel students and other constituencies with expertise in one or more areas pertaining to the housing operations as it pertains to the work done in Resident Education & Development. Operations may include: application process, student accounts, and student records and housing registration and changes. Employ professional judgment and decision-making skills to meet students' service needs. Manage all service-related inquiries and tasks including student mail sorting and distributions and work order management. Work with Housing central office staff to assign students to housing based on program needs. Provide excellent customer service to students at the hall level.
  • Supervise a desk assistant staff of 20-25 undergraduate and graduate students. Train and develop desk assistants, coordinate desk schedule and approving of shift switches, serve as payroll timekeeper, hold staff appropriately accountable for performance through regular meetings and annual evaluations.
  • Provide local administrative support, including: excellent customer service to students and guests, monthly key audits, manage work order system, navigate and execute student needs within databases such as StarRez (room assignments and changes) and Maxient (student conduct).
  • Develop and execute processes pertaining to hall opening and closing and coordinate efforts with Hall Opening Team and Helping Hands. During busier times, extra hours may be needed to complete the work of readying the hall for openings/closings and transition periods.
  • Collaborate with Housing and Conference Services to provide support for summer conferences in designated residence halls. This may include day-to-day supervision of conference assistants and conference guests/local constituents.
  • Participate in departmental initiatives including: training, opening and closing, committee work, development sessions, candidate interviews.
  • Serve in an on-call rotation for after-hours emergency assignment needs
  • Perform related duties based on departmental needs.


Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with three (3) years of experience; -OR- Associate's degree with five years of experience; -OR- seven(7) years ofexperience. Also requires counselor or service provider experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in Residence Life as an undergraduate or graduate student. Ability to adapt and use critical thinking fortimely decision making. Needs to be able to work in a fast-paced environment manner.
