MBA Director - Lindner College of Business

The Lindner College of Business (LCB) is at an exciting inflection point on the path to preeminence. The College has an established national reputation for excellence in its undergraduate, graduate, and online programs. A combination of research and teaching accomplishment distinguishes the College as a leader. In 2019, LCB will move into a new, state-of-the-art building that represents a tremendous opportunity for the College to bring innovative approaches to business education and further elevate the role of the College at UC, in the City of Cincinnati, and on the national landscape. The Master's in Business Administration (MBA) program is a core strength of the Lindner College of Business. The college is seeking a dynamic individual to serve as MBA Director. The Lindner College of Business has full-time and part-time programs, offered both on campus and online. The MBA Director leads the MBA team and reports to the Executive Director of Graduate Programs. The MBA Director will have broad responsibility for strategic leadership of the program as well as management responsibility for MBA operations.

Primary areas of responsibility include but are not limited to:
  • Administration of the MBA program; leading efforts in policy development and execution that enrich the MBA experience.
  • Developing and leading the delivery of a comprehensive academic advising strategy that supports all MBA students' personal and professional goals.
  • Leading MBA program assessment and external accreditation processes. Overseeing all rankings activities and work to strategically identify and use those metrics that will enhance our programs' reputation.
  • Leading collaborative efforts to provide experiential learning and international programs for MBA students
  • Collaborating with the Associate Dean for Graduate Programs and MBA faculty to facilitate curriculum and course development in the MBA program.
  • Collaborating with the LCB Director of Graduate Recruiting on the recruitment and admission of MBA students. Conduct open houses, meet with prospective students and serve as spokesperson for recruitment activities.
  • Coordinating with the Associate Dean of Online Programs to maintain consistency and synergy between the online and campus-based programs.
  • Ensuring that marketing and promotion materials for the MBA program are current and accurate. Collaborate with the College Relations Marketing team in their development of new materials.
  • Collaborate with LCB Career Services to foster relationships with corporations for recruiting and placement of MBA students.
  • Represent the MBA program in faculty and administrative meetings as well as on committees, advisory boards and public presentations in Cincinnati and conferences on MBA Education. This may include some occasional out of state travel.
  • Overseeing special projects and initiatives as assigned by the Associate Deans.
  • Providing administrative leadership and supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff; hire, orient, train, mentor and evaluate assigned staff; monitor and coordinate staff development and training programs.


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of MBA markets, rankings, leading practices, and accreditation standards.
  • Highly effective communicator, both in writing and speaking, with an ability to inspire students, faculty, and business partners.
  • Proven marketing and networking ability.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in teams with department heads, faculty, and staff, as well as with colleagues across the campus community and business community.
  • Financial management knowledge desirable, as is experience in a highly dynamic and competitive environment.
  • Ability to focus on actions and outcomes, with a strong level of energy and drive.
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, and prioritize responsibilities.


Minimum Qualifications: Master's Degree required. Minimum of three (3) years of related MBA program experience with an AACSB-accredited program -OR-five (5) years of business experience in senior management or consulting positions.

Preferred Qualifications: MBA or other relevant post graduate degree and/or a combination of academic and senior program management experience such that the individual will have recognition and credibility with students, faculty, alumni, and the general business community. A minimum of three (3) years of experience in program development and administration preferably within a graduate business school/university environment. A strategic thinker with evidence of successful implementation. Proven marketing and networking talents. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
