Director of Diversity Initiatives

This position assists in coordinating planning, implementation, evaluation, and enhancement of the University's diversity agenda and to provide first-line services to develop and achieve the institution's diversity goals. This position will also spearhead initiatives necessary to create and sustain a working and learning environment that is welcoming, affirming, and inclusive of all individuals. This includes working in collaboration with the Assistant Vice President for Institutional Equity and Diversity and the President's Task Force on Inclusive Excellence to plan, implement, monitor, and assess efforts that support the Inclusive Excellence framework (strategic diversity plan).

Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree. Experience working in higher education. Comprehensive understanding of legal concepts as they pertain to diversity, equal opportunity, and affirmative action and practical experience applying these principles in a work and/or academic environment. Knowledge of and experience with diverse cultures, including networks in diverse communities. Ability to develop and build effective internal and external relationships. Ability to think strategically and analytically and to facilitate execution of initiatives. Ability to propose creative solutions to recruit and retain diverse candidates. Strong consulting skills and the ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization. Strong problem identification and solving skills, including conflict resolution and negotiation. Strong program coordination and organizational skills. Comprehensive understanding of the legal framework surrounding diversity, equal opportunity and affirmative action planning. Effective and well-developed facilitation, presentation, liaison and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
Doctorate degree.
