Starting Salary Range: The first two steps of the range are: $3,834 to $3,916 per month. Higher salary placement may be available based on qualifications, experience and internal equity.

Job Summary:
The Instructional Technology Specialist works directly with faculty and staff to improve student learning though use of technology. You'll help people adopt and implement their teaching goals though the use of a robust set of learning tools, troubleshoot technical issues, and work with a team of professional staff to improve learning outcomes for online, hybrid, and on campus classes. This position is located at the lovely Rock Creek campus and requires a high degree of autonomy and professionalism. You'll primarily work with faculty and staff at Rock Creek and occasionally work with coworkers from across the district using web conferencing and occasional travel to other campuses.

Responsibilities/Duties:
Typical Job Duties and Responsibilities

- Works one-on-one and in groups with faculty and staff to create online courses, services and instructional material. Collaborates with other distance learning staff to work with faculty to gain an understanding of the course objectives and outcomes, assists with creation of lesson plans and other training materials, and selects and recommends media and teaching activities.
- Assists faculty and staff with options for presenting instructional materials or presentations using a variety of software applications including, but not limited to Camtasia, Wimba Voice Tools, Photoshop, podcasting, videoconferencing, digital cameras and audio/video editing software.
- In collaboration with appropriate department staff trains faculty and staff in the use of the Learning Management System. Provides telephone technical support for faculty and student users.
- Provides information and assists faculty and staff with using IT equipment and software. Provides training and workshops for individuals or small groups on a number of topics dealing with technology and course work delivery. Serves as development resource and produces documentation and training material in response to instructional needs.
- Provides professional guidance to faculty in designing, producing and maintaining instructional web pages for the most effective delivery of course materials.
- In collaboration with appropriate department staff assists with the administration of the Learning Management System. This includes creating, backing up and restoring courses and managing user and course accounts. Uses Banner to administer training registration and tracking.
- Researches new instructional technologies for viability within instructional/classroom setting and advises management on equipment and training needs. Makes recommendations to departments and/or the campus regarding IT equipment purchases.
- Designs, develops and produces media elements for courses and other projects. Advises on production issues, including content acquisition, multimedia authoring, animation, graphics, video and audio. Monitors appropriate usage by instructors of materials concerning copyright laws.
- Maintains up-to-date computer skills by attending training on new equipment and learning new/modified procedures and software.

Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications

Associate's degree or two years of college-level course work in computer applications, instructional technology and multimedia production or related area (relevant experience performing the duties of the job may substitute for the educational requirement).

Two years of recent experience in a setting working with various types of computer software and hardware and multi-media applications.




Knowledge and understanding of the principles and practices of instructional design. Knowledge of current computer software packages. Considerable knowledge of current computer creative and production software applications.

Ability to work with non-technical clients and students and translate content into multimedia products in formats including but not limited to: video, audio, graphics, digital animations, and HTML. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a project team. Ability to remain calm under pressure. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Active listening skills.

Special/Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications
These qualifications and characteristics are critical to success in this important role at PCC. Please clarify in your "Responses to the Required Questions" document how you meet Preferred Qualifications numbers 1 - 4.

1. At least 2 years experience creating content and managing courses in a learning management system (e.g. D2L Brightspace, Moodle, Canvas).

2. At least 2 years of teaching in online in post-secondary environments.

3. Ability to correctly interpret instructional requests, identify faculty needs, and develop products using appropriate instructional technology tools.

4. Strong interpersonal skills that allow incumbent to work with individuals one on one or as part of a small group.

Also:
5. Demonstrated problem solving/troubleshooting skills related to instructional technology and ability to see problems through resolution.

6. Understanding of pedagogy and andragogy and how it applies to community college learners.

7. Candidate is approachable, empathetic, a good listener and non-judgemental. Capable of building good working relationships.
