Director of Communications for PCDE

Shippensburg University is currently accepting applications for a Director of Communication located in the Office of Professional, Continuing and Distance Education Studies (PCDE).  The anticipated salary is $50,000 annually including an extensive benefits package and tuition waiver for employee and dependents.

The Director of Communications is responsible for the development and execution of digital marketing and communications in cooperation with the University’s Communications and Marketing Office and University-wide branding and licensing guidelines.  This position plays a critical role in ensuring the growth of PCDE’s programs and providing marketing expertise and leadership regarding online and adult audiences.  Duties will include developing and maintaining all PCDE website information (www.ship.edu/pcde and subpages); coordinating and working with the Communications and Marketing office to design, develop, update and maintain new and existing program marketing materials (flyers, posters, postcards, ads, etc.) and digital communications (email blasts, social media platforms such as, but not limited to, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter); develop, deploy, and maintain print and digital communications for cyclical programming such as Summer online, K-12 and PA Institutes, and current cohort programs; identify, create, update, and maintain niche marketing databases; research appropriate journals, associations, and web advertisement opportunities based on niche programs and audiences; create a student e-newsletter each semester; oversee distribution of brochures and other marketing materials; and stay abreast of marketing and communications trends to help reach our target audiences.

Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in communications, media, marketing or a related field and three years’ experience in a communications or marketing related position.  Experience working in a higher education setting and in digital communications or marketing (email, web, social media) is preferred.  Candidates selected for an interview will be asked to provide samples of work.  Successful performance in an on-campus interview is required.
