Job Summary:
Are you ready to impact the lives of students? The Gateway to Colllege Program is looking for a Math Instructor for the Southeast Campus.

This position will start Fall term 2018 and is eligible for Continuous Appointment upon third year review.

Gateway to College Program serves youth, 16 to 21 years old, who have dropped out of school or are significantly behind in credits and unlikely to graduate. The dual credit program allows students to earn a high school diploma while progressing toward a college degree or certificate.

Responsibilities/Duties:
PCC Faculty Job Duties and Responsibilities

- Instruct students using approved course outcome guides developed by college-wide subject area Faculty; assess student performance in these courses.

- Attend and participate in college-wide, campus/center division, department, and program meetings and activities.

- Serve on Subject Area Curriculum Committees and/or such other College committees as may be assigned.

- Assist in the recruitment of students.

- Provide registration, advising, and guidance assistance to students.

- Provide professional assistance to staff and students.

- Provide information and assistance on College operations as may be requested.

- Compile and/or research data as may be assigned.

- Provide services to students in a manner which does not discriminate as to race, creed, religion, color, national origin, disability, age, sex, sexual preference or marital status.

- Remain current in the field through a variety of professional development activities.

- Maintain College safety standards in their work areas; ensure that students are trained in good safety practices; and make reasonable efforts to ensure that students follow good safety practices.

- Comply with published College Policies and Procedures.

- Perform other related duties as provided in Faculty Agreement.



Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Instructor Qualifications
To be considered for this position, your application materials must show how you meet the following requirements - Note: experience requirements use full-time equivalent:

Master's degree (MS, MA) in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or Statistics;

OR

Master's degree in Mathematics Education or Master's degree in Teaching (e.g., MST, MAT) with an emphasis in mathematics;
AND Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or Statistics;
AND 18 quarter hours (12 semester hours) in graduate level mathematics,

OR

Master's degree in a field related to mathematics;
AND 27 quarter hours (18 semester hours) in graduate-level mathematics

Note Regarding Academic Credentials:

- Official transcripts are required to be submitted within 2 weeks of offer date for degrees required in the stated minimum qualifications.

- Instructors shall have earned required academic credentials at a regionally accredited US institution or a foreign institution having the equivalent of regional accreditation. Instructors with credentials from other countries will have their transcripts evaluated by agencies that have good standing with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services to establish fulfillment of this standard.

Special/Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications
These qualifications and characteristics are critical to success in this important role at PCC. Please clarify in your cover letter how you meet Preferred Qualifications 1 to 3 below:

1. Demonstrated years of experience working with at-risk youth.
2. Demonstrated experience collaborating and communicating with other instructors and student support staff regarding students' academic performance.
3. Demonstrated experience conducting MTH Work Samples Sessions to meet Essential Skills in MTH.

Also:
4. Master's degree in Mathematics Education OR (Master's degree in Education or Teaching with an emphasis in mathematics)
5. Demonstrated years of experience teaching Math in K-12 and college and/or experience teaching college level mathematics (MTH 20, 60, 65, 95)
6. Demonstrated experience and commitment to open-access community college philosophy, teamwork, and diversity;
7. Demonstrated experience planning and organizing courses, using a variety of teaching and learning strategies to insure student success, utilizing effective classroom management, and employing an effective and appropriate evaluation of student performance;
