Speech Language Pathologist
SIU School of Medicine, Division of Otolaryngology is recruiting a licensed Speech Language Pathologist. This position will deliver speech/language and listening and spoken language therapy services to individuals of all ages who have hearing loss; counsel patients and families providing information to improve communication strategies and models such strategies for patients; complete follow-up appointments for aural rehabilitation counseling; deliver aural rehabilitation to pediatric and adult patients post cochlear implant surgery; define patient’s degree and type of speech, language and voice impairment by electing and administering the most appropriate test instruments; develop treatment plans to improve the function of patients with speech language impairments; communicate with schools and assist in IEP development and review; develop and implement a parent coaching model. Applicants must possess a Master’s Degree in Communication Disorders/Speech and Language Pathology from an accredited program; possess current ASHA Certification of Clinical Competency/ASHA certification and be able to be licensed in the State of Illinois. Preferred Qualifications include certification as Auditory-Verbal Therapist/Listening & Spoken Language Specialist; experience working with individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing; experience with sign language or willingness to learn; three years of related professional experience.
