Speech Language Pathologist

 

SIU School of Medicine, Division of Otolaryngology is recruiting a licensed Speech Language Pathologist.  This position will deliver speech/language and listening and spoken language therapy services to individuals of all ages who have hearing loss; counsel patients and families providing information to improve communication strategies and models such strategies for patients;  complete follow-up appointments for aural rehabilitation counseling; deliver aural rehabilitation to pediatric and adult patients post cochlear implant surgery; define patient’s degree and type of speech, language and voice impairment by electing and administering the most appropriate test instruments; develop treatment plans to improve the function of patients with speech language impairments; communicate with schools and assist in IEP development and review; develop and implement a parent coaching model.  Applicants must possess a Master’s Degree in Communication Disorders/Speech and Language Pathology from an accredited program; possess current ASHA Certification of Clinical Competency/ASHA certification and be able to be licensed in the State of Illinois.  Preferred Qualifications include certification as Auditory-Verbal Therapist/Listening & Spoken Language Specialist; experience working with individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing; experience with sign language or willingness to learn; three years of related professional experience.  Qualified applicants should visit www.siumed.edu/jobs and apply for position # SMS 2608.  Southern Illinois University School of Medicine is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity employer and provides equal employment and educational opportunities for all qualified persons without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, sexual orientation, protected veteran status or marital status in accordance with local, state and federal law.
