Individuals in the position of Leadership 2.0 Summer Bridge Manager will hold the following basic functions and responsibilities:

PROGRAM PLANNING : Individuals in the position of Leadership 2.0 Summer Bridge Manager will be responsible for leading the process of identifying, recruiting, interviewing and determining participants in the Leadership 2.0 program. They will lead the process of identifying, recruiting, interviewing and determining the Leadership 2.0 Summer Bridge Residential Manager and academic faculty to teach the Summer Bridge courses. They will facilitate completion of necessary background checks where appropriate.
The will partner and coordinate with other UC Summer Bridge programs to determine dates in which collaborative efforts can be made and schedule necessary campus resources and facilities (ie: housing and food services).

They will plan and schedule academic and social program content, including transportation and chaperone support necessary for all programming. They will plan and deliver non-academic programming included in the Summer Bridge (ie: community building, etiquette course, public speaking course, research introduction course...) and will plan the Leadership 2.0 Summer Bridge graduation ceremony.

Leadership 2.0 Summer Bridge Managers will create Leadership 2.0 Orientation materials for participants and families and will prepare necessary releases and permissions for participants. They will create and deliver the Leadership 2.0 Orientation for participants, families, faculty, Residential Manager and other stakeholders involved in the Summer Bridge to convey operating expectations, including meeting attendance and communication expectations. They will coordinate iPad readiness for participants including ensuring purchase and arrange for iPad orientation.

PROGRAM MANAGEMENT : Individuals in the position of Leadership 2.0 Summer Bridge Manager will be responsible for overseeing all operations related to carrying out the Leadership 2.0 Summer Bridge program. They will meet with Leadership 2.0 Summer Bridge stakeholders, including faculty, staff, and students, regularly. They will accompany Leadership 2.0 Summer Bridge participants on all planned programming and outings (ie: study tables, social outings, community service outings...). They will be responsible for Leadership 2.0 participant progress monitoring (Summer Bridge course grade monitoring, study table attendance...).

DATA REPORTING AND ANALYSIS: Individuals in the position of Leadership 2.0 Summer Bridge Manager will plan and coordinate assessment activities involving Leadership 2.0 participants including surveys and focus groups. Toward the end of the Summer Bridge they will facilitate necessary academic advisor meeting and communication expectations for the program and ensure that participants are established to meet those expectation for their first term of enrollment.
BUDGETARY OVERSIGHT : Leadership 2.0 Summer Bridge Managers are responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring the Leadership 2.0 Summer Bridge budget. They will maintain authority for function budget and expense planning and approve expenditures for the Leadership 2.0 Summer Bridge program.

OTHER : Leadership 2.0 Summer Bridge Managers will assume other duties related to the Leadership 2.0 Summer Bridge as may be assigned by the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. A minimum of a bachelors degree with three years of previous experience in teaching, advising and/or counseling of students, preferably in a higher education setting -OR-Associate's degree with five years of experience in teaching, advising and/or counseling of students, preferably in higher education setting -OR- seven years of experience in teaching, advising and/or counseling of students, preferably in a higher education setting.

  1. Interpersonal Skills
    1. Strong interpersonal relation skills are necessary as well as the ability to analytically and systematically evaluate the needs of the participants, family, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders in the Leadership 2.0 Summer Bridge program. They will be required to strategically plan the work of the Summer Bridge program, setting and assessing progress toward goals to achieve the overall program goals.
  2. Communication Skills
    1. Strong communication skills are necessary to communicate with Summer Bridge participants and their families, the Summer Bridge Residential Manager, faculty, staff and other stakeholders in one-on-one and group settings. Summer Bridge Managers are responsible for representing the College of Nursing within the university, college, and the community. They will be expected to communicate internally and externally through letters, e-mails, and social media posts in a professional and articulate manner. They will also be asked to edit literature intended for Leadership 2.0 on behalf of the College.
  1. Technology Literacy
    1. It is imperative that Leadership 2.0 Summer Bridge Managers be technologically literate and embrace the use of technology in their work. They must be proficient in basic software packages (Microsoft: Word, Excel, PowerPoint). They will also use e-mail (Outlook) to communicate with participants and their families, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders. They will utilize social media appropriately to communicate with participants .


This position will be a professional position paid at an hourly rate.
