Executive Director of Institutional Advancement & ECC Foundation



Function:
Sets institutional direction and oversees execution of college's advancement program, driving non-traditional financial resources for short-term use and long-term sustainability that support student scholarships, academic programs, student services and other needs as identified by ECC. Leadership required in all aspects of the separately incorporated, not-for-profit institutionally related foundation and college's emerging alumni relations program. Responsibilities include direction of comprehensive fundraising program (including annual giving, major giving, planned giving, and campaigns), board development, governance and policies in alignment with national best practices, volunteer engagement, investment and financial management, fund distribution, donor and volunteer stewardship, marketing and communications direction for foundation, and alumni relations program for more than 35,000 college graduates, 100,000+ attendees, and current students. Working with the ECC Foundation Board of Directors, create a strategic plan in alignment with the college's stated direction and annual operational plans and goals for growth.

Essential Responsibilities:
1. Provide direction and strategy for fundraising program, ensuring viable and growing pipeline of donors through the annual giving, major gift and planned gift continuum as well as corporate and foundation grants.

2. Identify, recruit and actively engage volunteer Board of Directors and Directors Emeritus, comprised of business, philanthropic and community leaders.

3. Remain current on national best practice in governance and policy, directing and informing regular review, addition and update of Memorandum of Understanding with the institution, organizational Bylaws and Board policies as needed.

4. In conjunction with Board chair, build a strategic plan in alignment with the college's strategic plan. Create annual operations plan in alignment with the Foundation and Advancement Department goals.

5. Collaborate with academic and student services leadership to build and refine 'case for support' for both general and program related investment needs.

6. Create a strategy for and execute grant-seeking opportunities with corporations, community organizations, and foundations.

7. Oversee all aspects of financial and investment activity for the ECC Foundation. Coordinate the annual, independent audit and communication of findings, IRS-990 preparation and the national survey reporting through the NACUBO/Commonfund Study of Endowments or other similar surveys or reports.

8. Oversee the continued growth of the college's alumni relations program and affinity group engagement strategies, such as college retirees and giving circles.

9. Coordinate donor stewardship activities, ensuring supporters are appreciated for their donations, including facilitation of the annual retreat. Collaborate with Marketing and Communications Department for the appropriate media attention and social media channels.

10. Provide oversight for institutional expenditures of Foundation resources, including scholarship awarding, grant and program expenditures.

11. Serve as a member of the President's cabinet and on college committees.

12. Manage the Institutional Advancement and Foundation departmental staff.

Position requires close visual acuity to perform activities (i.e. preparing/analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer monitor; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines; using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes).

Moderate noise.

Typical office or administrative conditions (i.e. not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions).

Required Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from four-year college or university.

2. Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible administrative and professional experience working in conjunction with executive level constituents.

3. Minimum of 3 years in the role of foundation executive director or comparable position.

4. Minimum of 3 years of supervisory and team building experience.

5. Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents.

6. Exemplary presentation skills, including the development of speeches and presentations to be given to top management, public groups and/or board of trustees.

7. Proficiency in statistical analysis, test reliability/validity, variance analysis and/or sampling theory.

8. Ability to develop and understand personal relationships between the College and the district donors.

9. Ability to establish long-term partnerships to support the importance and value of education in the community.

10. Experience with post-secondary education administration.

11. Experience with Blackbaud's The Raiser's Edge constituent relationship management software or similar software.

12. Exceptional organizational skills.

Desired Qualifications:
1. Master's degree.

2. Certified Fund Raising Professional (CFRE) credential
