About ANDALE!@Oakton

The Association to Nurture and Develop the Advancement of Latinos in Education

Supports the College's Hispanic/Latino as well as the campus-wide community. Through events, workshops, networking, and peer mentoring, ANDALE! ? The Association to Nurture and Develop the Advancement of Latinos in Education ? fosters early collegiate connections, promotes academic preparedness, and creates clear academic pathways that encourage student success. ANDALE! Offers workshops that provide the tools for academic success ? from reading textbooks to effective study habits; seminars in Spanish for parents and families; student advocates trained to serve as peer mentors; networking opportunities and conference attendance.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and direction for the ANDALE! program.
  • Plan, implement and assess program components and services.
  • Coordinate meetings of the ANDALE! steering committee.
  • Manage the financial resources of ANDALE! with assistance from OAED staff.
  • Develop online and print resources to market the programs and services that ?ensure events are adequately publicized to maximize participation.
  • Facilitate collaborative partnerships with faculty and other departments to execute program components.
  • Communicate with Latino/a students regularly during the academic year about ?student success opportunities.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of educational programs and campus events ?that promote a diverse intellectual and social environment.
  • Serve as a resource person for students, faculty and staff for issues pertinent to the Hispanic/Latino community.
  • Meet regularly with the AVP for Student Affairs about the program.
  • Submit an annual report to the AVP at the conclusion of the academic year.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:


Qualifications and Working Conditions:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year institution (or expected completion by spring 2018).

Fluency in Spanish.

Preferred Qualifications:

Graduate student in in Counseling Psychology, Student Personnel, Higher Education or related field.

Knowledge and experience with programming initiatives and support services related to diversity, inclusion and student development theory.

Experience advising and counseling students and recognized student organizations.

Experience in diversity training/education initiatives.

Knowledge of past and current social trends affecting marginalized/non-majority students.

Additional Information:


20 Hours per week (Monday through Friday 8:15 am - 12:15 pm)

Hours are subject to change due to the needs of the department.

SALARY: $22.99 per hour
