Assistant Director Academic, Undergraduate Assessment



Job Summary:

The Office of the Provost seeks an Assistant Director to compile, analyze, and present academic assessment data. The Assistant Director will conduct university-wide assessment in Undergraduate Affairs, analyze results, and create visualizations to communicate findings in support of curricular planning. The Assistant Director will maintain public-facing web content, and create reports for both internal and external audiences.

Job Duties:
  • Proactively gather and present assessment data, and communicate recommendations to inform curricular planning.
  • Create and present data visualizations using results of assessment data related to undergraduate student learning.
  • Extract and analyze data from survey tools, the university's SIS, the university's PAL assessment system, the university's eCurriculum system, and other relevant systems as needed.
  • Maintain public facing web content describing assessment practices, and presenting data visualizations of compiled results for external audiences. Maintain content on Undergraduate Affairs webpages including the Learning Commons, General Education, Assessment of Learning, and CET&L.
  • Ensure that public facing web content related to assessment complies with digital accessibility standards, and collaboratively support other Undergraduate Affairs Offices on meeting accessibility standards.
  • Facilitate annual survey of General Education senior capstone courses. Communicate with capstone faculty members and administrators in each undergraduate college regarding the survey. Gather and compile results to share detailed internal views and high-level external views.
  • Support Undergraduate Affairs offices, specifically including Experience-Based & Career Education, Learning Commons, Center for Enhancement of Teaching & Learning, and the Great Gateways initiative. Coordinate with office directors to prioritize needs, establish assessment timeline, provide reports, and facilitate training as necessary.
  • Communicate with partners engaging in assessment of undergraduate student learning to remain aware of assessment activities at UC, and make recommendations for coordination and collaboration.
  • Coordinate with partners to compile a summary of assessment reports for each undergraduate college annually. Ensure that reports are shared with appropriate audiences to impact decision-making in undergraduate curricular planning.
  • In consultation with supervisor and stakeholders, create ad hoc reports using academic and curricular data to assist in evaluation and planning.


Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree in related field with one (1) years' experience ; OR- Bachelor's degree with three (3) years' experience; -OR- Associate's degree with five (5) years' experience; -OR- seven (7) years' experience. Experience must be in a field related to the position.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • A degree in Higher Education Administration, Mathematics, Statistics, Informatics, or a related discipline
  • Training or experience with data analytics, statistics, informatics, or related disciplines
  • Experience working with large datasets to create reports, including experience analyzing and presenting results to stakeholders
  • A demonstrated interest in student success
  • Experience working with a university SIS
  • Experience using either SQL, SPSS, R, SAS, or Tableau
  • Experience using a web content management system
