Assistant Director, Career Services Center

The Lindner College of Business Career Services Center provides quality career coaching and a broad spectrum of career services to facilitate the particular experiential learning search and post-graduation employment objectives of each individual student. The Assistant Director, Career Services is responsible for the development and delivery of comprehensive and innovative career management training and career advising for full-time, part-time, and online students as well as alumni.

The Assistant Director duties will include but not limited to the following:
  • Develop and implement short and long range goals, objectives and strategies related to the training and advising programs; develop and teach BA2080 - Career Success Strategies.
  • Educate employers on the process through which to hire international students.
  • Provide career advising (resume reviews, mock interviews, job searches, employment trends) to individuals and groups.
  • Manage the delivery of career management workshops conducted by career services staff and outside experts.
  • Oversee the content and production of a career development guide and other supporting training materials.
  • Collaborate with career services staff to manage relationships with recruiters, staff, faculty, alumni, and student club leaders.
  • Develop and manage a career resource library; and represent UC and the Lindner College of Business at local, regional and national functions.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Additional responsibilities include assisting with the administration of on-campus recruiting programs, career fairs, managing the career services website, writing grant proposals; developing and implementing social media strategies; and collecting, preparing and analyzing statistical information and reports concerning Career Services activities.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with three (3) years experience; -OR- Associate's degree with five (5) years experience; -OR- seven (7) years related experience. Degree must be in counseling or related field. Experience must include administration and counseling in career planning and/or placement. Experience may also require at least one (1) year supervision.

Ideal Qualification: Extensive work experience in developing and delivering career management training and career advising services to students in higher education
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to the needs of student populations from countries outside the United States.
  • Ability to work under pressure, with the flexibility to respond to changing priorities and fluctuating workloads.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are required to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, alumni, prospective students, recruiters, faculty, staff, and professionals from other institutions and associations.
  • Ability to market the Lindner Career Services Center and the Lindner College of Business to current and prospective recruiters.
  • Prior relationship management and marketing experience is highly preferred. Skills in organizing work, defining tasks, prioritizing assignments, and following through on all projects independently.
  • Ability to think strategically, develop and execute operational plans and manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Knowledge of computerized career center database programs, understanding of website development/maintenance, ability to effectively use MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel.
  • Strong platform communications experience required. Experience in oral presentations to large and medium sized groups required.
  • Ability to work some nights and weekends to fulfill job duties.
  • Strong interest in business and knowledge of current business and recruiting trends.
  • Five years of experience in a career advising role preferred. Master's degree preferred.
