Associate Dean of Health Professions, Math, Science & Engineering



Function:
The Associate Dean assists the Dean in providing administrative, academic, fiscal, and strategic leadership for the Health Professions. Math, Science & Engineering Division, which consists of 24 disciplines. The Associate Dean supports the Dean in handling day to day operations within the division, and when necessary serves as the Dean's designee.

Essential Responsibilities:
1. Assist the Dean in the recruitment, hiring, supervision, evaluation, professional development and retention of divisional faculty, administrators and support staff, while working within the collective bargaining agreements.

2. Assist faculty in curriculum and and program development/expansion projects.

3. Assist the Dean in developing and monitoring of the division budgets to ensure accurate budget/fiscal reporting in compliance with established College accounting principles and procedures.

4. Assist the Dean in grant proposal writing and implementations. Oversee grant compliance and data collection/reporting procedures.

5. Assist the Dean in tracking course assessment activities, monitoring accreditation activities and clinical affiliations.

6. Assist faculty in program review and program assessment activities.

7. Serve as the Dean's designee at meetings/during committee work.

8. Assist the Dean in managing the facilities within the division.

Physical Demands:
Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Position requires close visual acuity to perform activities (i.e. preparing/analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer monitor; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines; using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes).

Quiet conditions.

Typical office or administrative conditions (i.e. not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions).

Required Qualifications:
1. Master's degree in one of the disciplines represented within the division, related field, or in education.

2. Minimum three years teaching experience in one of the disciplines represented within the division.

3. Minimum two years management and/or leadership experience including budgeting.

4. Ability to work collaboratively and build teams with administrators, faculty, staff, and community partners

5. Proven skills in thinking strategically, developing a vision, and implementing its details

6. Appreciation for diversity and multicultural awareness

7. Strong communication skills

8. Demonstrated respect for teaching, learning, evaluation, and assessment processes

Desired Qualifications:
1. Community college teaching experience preferred

2. Knowledge of the comprehensive mission of the community college
