General Function:

The Director of Grants will coordinate college-wide efforts to increase external sources through grants, assisting grant writers and teams across the college and will apply for grants, as well.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
(Duties and responsibilities listed are examples of work performed and may be modified as needs of the College may dictate)• Write funding requests and grant applications; adapt and edit proposals, concept papers and letters of inquiry for submission to foundations, corporations, and government agencies
• Conduct research to identify and track potential funding opportunities; maintain funding opportunity databases; and provide timely advice and information on funding opportunities, requirements, and procedures
• Monitor and interpret regulations to ensure regulatory compliance; inform and advise institutional representatives of compliance issues
• Conduct internal and external research for statistics and other information to support grant proposals; gather information that will facilitate understanding of the concept of projects/programs for which funding is sought
• Develop budgets for grant project related activities and expenditures
• Prepare graphics for grant applications (matrices, calendars of activities, data table/charts, etc.)
• Maintain contact with grant-making organizations during the review process for submitted applications
• Manage the process of progress report submissions for awarded grants
• Work closely with faculty and staff in developing and transforming ideas into grant proposals; acquire and maintain comprehensive knowledge of the organization to enhance understanding of projects for which grants are sought and to recommend most appropriate sources of funding
• Develop and maintain relationships with local and regional government agencies, education institutions, and community organizations to support partnerships for the development of grant proposals
• Assist in the planning, development, and implementation of an annual grant development agenda for the college
• Conduct or ensure all requisite grant follow-up reporting


Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a highly related field such as writing- and research-intensive discipline, such as English, Technical Writing, History, Fundraising, Public Administration or a similar subject
• Two-to-Four Years of Experience directly relevant to fund development
• Demonstrated history of successful grant writing yielding six-figure awards
• Demonstrated technical writing experience
• Ability to match appropriate funding sources with institutional programs
• Ability to work collaboratively on high-level projects with a variety of colleagues and subject matter experts.
• Strong expository and persuasive writing skills, a high-level command of grammar and spelling, demonstrated ability to write and edit with consistent accuracy and compelling messages, and demonstrated ability to match writing style with audience
• Ability to gather, analyze, and evaluate a variety of data
• Excellent organizational and planning skills
• Highly organized with ability to plan, prioritize, and coordinate multiple projects
• Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
• Strong computer skills with excellent command of software, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
• Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills; ability to work collaboratively with faculty/staff in various departments/disciplines

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Banner Production, Self-Service Banner, and ARGOS

DESCRIPTION:
The central function for this position is Funds Development. Success in this role will be measured by a number of indicator including, but not limited to, the number of relevant grant opportunities identified, the number of qualifying grant applications submitted on time, the dollar value of grants secured, and the efficient management of those grants. As such, these measures will require regular progress reports on each of these key performance indicators.

WRITING SAMPLE:
Individuals applying for this position must submit writing samples that appropriately demonstrates the applicants' technical and grant writing abilities. Redacted grants are preferred, but hypothetical samples will be considered.

INTERVIEW PROCESS:
Candidates selected for interview should anticipate a writing assignment and computer skills assessment as part of the consideration process.
