Research Assistant - Department of Pathology

RESEARCH ASSISTANT

(Non-Exempt, Professional Hourly)

Biophysics Laboratory Studying Lipoprotein Structure/function.

We are seeking a candidate for a research assistant within a well-funded laboratory at the Center for Lipid and Atherosclerosis Studies (CLAS) at the University of Cincinnati Metabolic Diseases Institute. The major job responsibilities will be to develop and perform recombinant protein expression and purification strategies including preparing recombinant proteins from bacterial and mammalian cells. In addition, the individual will be responsible for purifying apolipoproteins from human plasma by established protocols. The candidate will join a dynamic team that uses diverse approaches to study structure/function relationships and the cell biology of lipoprotein metabolism. Competitive salaries are available based on the experience level.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors in Science, Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Pharmacology, Molecular Biology or allied subjects. Experience in molecular and cell biology, histology and/or tissue processing techniques. Friendly and professional communication skills and strong computer skills required.

Ideal Qualifications: Experience working in a medical setting and/or laboratory is preferred. Some clinical knowledge desired for reviewing medical records. An excellent command of the English language and an easy-going personality. A solid work ethic, a fastidious and careful approach and excellent record keeping skills are also high priority.
