The Department of Environmental Health is a world-renowned institution for environmental health, occupational safety, and molecular genetics research. The department has enjoyed top-ranking in the nation for over five decades. Its research portfolio for environmental and occupational health is among the top in the nation, and ranked 12th in NIH funding in Public Health/Preventive Medicine in the nation (Source: Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research, 2014). Within the department there are approximately 40 full-time faculty, and 300 graduate students enrolled in four PhD programs and six master degree programs. The Master of Public Health (MPH) Program is a CEPH-accredited program offering 6 concentrations to a total of 90 enrolled graduate students.

Job Summary: The MPH Program in the Department of Environmental Health invites applications for an Assistant Professor in Health Policy, Services, Management and Administration. This is a full-time appointment in an educator track or a tenure track.

Faculty appointed in the department have the opportunity to become a member of the NIH funded Center for Environmental Genetics (P30ES06096), Center for Clinical and Translational Science and Training, Cincinnati Cancer Center, the University of Cincinnati Cancer Institute, and numerous other research centers. These Centers offer a supportive environment to conduct state-of-the-art epidemiologic, genetic, and clinical research. Strong basic research programs in exposure assessment, molecular biology and toxicology, genetics, bioinformatics and data science (LINCS-BD2K center), pathology, immunology, and endocrinology are available for collaborative investigations.

Qualifications: Successful candidates will have an earned doctoral degree in a field relevant to the position, evidence of scholarly research, evidence of ability to obtain competitive funding to support a research program, and evidence to serve as an effective instructor and mentor.

Candidates who seek for the tenure track are expected to have at least one year of postdoctoral research training, or extensive pre-doctoral research experience in health policy, management and administration. Evidence of success in competitive funding as a PI or a Co-PI is a plus.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to teach graduate courses; advise and mentor MPH students; provide service to the MPH Program, the Department of Environmental Health, and the community; and work collaboratively with colleagues in multidisciplinary research. The candidate seeking for a tenure track position is expected to develop an independent research program with external funding or provide significant contributions in multidisciplinary funding projects by serving as a Co-PI or Co-I.
