Research Associate

The University of Cincinnati Cancer Institute is seeking a Research Associate. This position reports to the CTO Medical Director.

BASIC FUNCTION: Identify and define funding opportunities to support existing and planned program activities, investigators and staff, as well as, coordinate the development, writing and submission of grant proposals for intramural and extramural proposals within the Cancer Institute. Responsibilities will include assisting trainees and faculty with understanding grant processes, conducting searches for grants to match faculty and trainee research ideas, provide support to faculty in areas of protocol development, data collection and reporting as assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Research and identify new government, corporate, foundation and private funding opportunities to match faculty and trainee research ideas and priorities.
  • Generate grant proposals and supporting documents in response to solicitations.
  • Prepare well-written grant funding proposals, to include NIH bio sketches, budget preparation, and letters of intent and support. Assist with total grant packaging.
  • Build relationships, meet and collaborate with various staff and grant personnel for specific grant writing and preparation purposes. Attend meetings regarding all aspects of grant preparation and submission.
  • Assist with development of templates and tools for grant training such as institutional support, animal protocols, letter of support, etc. to assist in improving grant application success. Review abstracts manuscripts and other documents.
  • Serve as liaison to investigators and staff and engage with various staff or investigators to solicit invitations to submit proposals or manuscripts, as needed
  • Assist with training faculty and staff in research methodology, funding set-up and submission processes, new faculty research orientation or other aspects of research grant preparation.
  • Assist the CTO leadership team to maintain and report metrics, contract services, improve workflows, and submit reports to funders and other sources.


  • Act as a liaison with research faculty, staff, university departments, ancillary departments and/or satellite facilities. Provide meaningful feedback and guidance, as needed.

  • Provide support to faculty in areas of protocol development as assigned.
  • Provide regulatory support to faculty for retrospective chart review studies.
  • Assist with database development and collection and reporting of data for investigators as assigned.
  • Assist with results reporting in clinicaltrials.gov.
  • Other duties as assigned.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in a profession/field or equivalent level of knowledge.
