Business and Data Analytics Librarian

UC Libraries seeks a knowledgeable, motivated, and service oriented Business Librarian to develop and deliver innovative research and instructional services to the UC communities in business. The incumbent will work collaboratively with business faculty, and with UCL faculty and staff to design, develop, and implement a suite of cohesive services and resources for faculty and students in business. This is a faculty tenure track position.

RELATIONSHIP AND AUTHORITY:

Reports to the Head of Research, Teaching, and Services. Receives general guidance from and consults with the Interim Associate Dean for Library Services and Head of Collection Development.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provides research assistance to faculty and students. Collaborates with UCL informationists, scholarly communications and digital scholarship librarians, and subject librarians regarding digital creation, publication, and storage of faculty and student research. Instructs and advises faculty and students on the Scholar@UC repository and open source composing.
  • Identifies, champions, and implements data analysis tools and provides services that meet evolving business research needs. Assists users in finding, acquiring, manipulating and analyzing data.
  • Manages collection budget for the LCOB, including demand driven acquisitions and selection through approval and non-approval sources. Partners with the LCOB to fund and manage business resources.
  • Manages over 200 business databases, including negotiating contracts, creating descriptions, and updating links.
  • Maintains the business library online presence, including the business library web site, One Stop Business resource, and electronic guides.
  • Provides instruction for LCOB faculty, staff, and students. Participates in a wide range of training and instruction programs. Develops e-learning objects to support teaching and learning in the LCOB.
  • Provides a vision and investigates trends for the future of research in the areas of business and data analysis.
  • Assists the Head of Collection Development in formulation of collection policy and budgetary allocations.
  • Represents the University of Cincinnati Libraries at statewide and national business librarians associations and organizations.
  • Participates in developing, implementing and assessing a shared vision for the department.
  • Participates in library committees, meetings, and workshops as appropriate.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's degree in library or information science/management or relevant graduate education or a comparable combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in a business focused library or information service.
  • Demonstrated understanding of current and emerging trends in business and entrepreneurship research and scholarship.
  • Experience finding, acquiring, manipulating and analyzing quantitative data in a research environment.
  • Knowledge of current technologies and services supporting business and the social sciences.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in a business field.
  • Experience in an eLearning environment. Ability to design and develop online learning objects and instructional modules.
  • Prior teaching experience. Ability to develop and deliver innovative and responsive instructional programs.
  • Knowledge of current instructional pedagogies.
  • Working knowledge of Tableau, R, SAS, SPSS, STATA, or MatLab.
  • Familiarity with business resources; such as, WRDS or Bloomberg.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of scholarly communication and publishing issues.
  • Knowledge of data mining and analysis tools, textual analysis, and/or TEI.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and to contribute positively to a collegial team environment.
  • Ability and interest in fulfilling the University's requirements for tenure and promotion. Commitment to professional growth and development.
