Degree and area of specialization:
A degree in HVAC, Engineering, or related degree preferred.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
- A Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience required.
- A Minimum of 2 years of supervision experience preferred.
- Experience in repairing and remodeling multi-family preferred.
- Experience in repairing and remodeling in a residential setting preferred.
- Experience working within in a University setting preferred.

License or Certificate:
Ability to attain within the first 6 months of employment and maintain the following certifications:
- Lead Safe Renovator Certification Preferred
- Asbestos O&M Certification Preferred
- Silica Awareness Training Preferred

Position Summary:
The Division of University Housing is committed to providing an exceptional workplace for its workforce of approximately 450 full-time staff members and over 2,000 students. University Housing operates nineteen residence halls across the UW-Madison campus, providing home to over 7,400 undergraduate students. We also operate three apartment communities, serving about 3,000 graduate students, students with families, postdoctoral researchers, academic staff and faculty. In addition, we manage seven dining locations around campus, and we provide housing throughout the summer for conference groups and youth camps.

University Housing is divided into five main departments including: Administration, Dining & culinary Services, Residence Hall Facilities, Residence Life, and University Apartments. Whether we?re launching new academic support services, testing out a new recipe, renovating resident rooms, organizing welcome events, inviting a new summer youth camp, cleaning our facilities, it?s all done to support the mission of UW-Madison and fulfill University Housing?s mission statement of being, ?The place everyone wants to live.?

University Apartments is a department within the Division of University Housing at the University of Wisconsin- Madison. As a student service organization, University Apartments provides on-campus housing, programs, and services for our residents. These services actively support the mission of the University while also meeting the needs of the students, families and guests by fostering the development of a residential community. The University Apartments staff provides these services to a community of approximately 3,000 residents in 1243 apartments on 83 acres who are primarily graduate students, staff, post docs and their families; many of whom are international. All programs and services sponsored by University Apartments are funded through rent and user fees.

Under the general supervision of the Associate Director of Apartment Facilities, the Assistant Director of Apartment Facilities- Maintenance, supervises maintenance staff, warehouse operations, and coordinates the work of crafts/trades workers and contractors responsible for the maintenance and repair operations for the University Apartments community. This position will directly supervise Maintenance Staff, Warehouse staff, and a variety of Student Laborers.

Additional Information:
Schedule: Primary schedule below; schedule alterations as operation and position expectations demand.

Generally 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday between the hours of 7:00am to 5:00pm, some weekends and evenings as operationally needed.
