The faculty of the Department of Public Administration, College of Business Administration and Public Policy at California State University Dominguez Hills invites applications from individuals for a one full-time 12 month lecturer position in the Department of Public Administration, College of Business Administration and Public Policy.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities may include advising and/or teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses, day or evening classes, ground based and online classes. Course load is expected to be one course per semester. Additional responsibilities include:
Coordinate with Assistant Dean, Graduate and Professional Programs to create a successful advising strategy utilizing an advanced, developmental, intrusive, problem solving approach, rather than a prescriptive application, to assist MPA students in optimal degree completion.
Monitor student retention and progress toward degree, and graduation rates for MPA students and producing progress reports to the Assistant Dean and Department Chair for accreditation needs.
Develop and implement student engagement programing including graduate orientation.
Help to implement an advising policy that incorporates the university advising mission, Students Advising Learning Outcomes (SALO) and improves on all of these metrics specific to the MPA program and NASPAA standards.
Monitor academic progress and provide advising to students especially when in academic distress, requiring mediation, or intrusive advising.
Provide input to course scheduling.
Advisor to Pi Alpha Alpha Honor Society CSUDH chapter and GSPA (Graduate Society of Public Administration)

The Department of Public Administration
The Department offers Bachelor of Science Degree in Public Administration; Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice Administration and minors in public administration and criminal justice administration. Also offered is, a Masters in Public Administration with a concentration in public management, nonprofit management, criminal justice policy and administration and health care policy and administration.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Master degree in Public Administration, Public Policy or equivalent field.
Evidence of potential excellence in teaching at the College level.
Evidence of potential for successful student advisement.
Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population.
Preferred Qualifications
Expertise in the field of public management, public policy, criminal justice administration, organizational theory, behavior and development; nonprofit leadership and management, health care policy and administration. Relevant professional experience and the ability to interact effectively with practitioners.
Doctoral degree in Public Administration, Public Policy or equivalent field.
Experience in or potential for teaching online courses.
Experience with academic advising and/or student success initiatives.
Ability to analyze and interpret student retention data.
