About the College/Department
Upward Bound is a grant-funded TRIO program of the U.S. Department of Education and is hosted by Student Affairs at the University of Arkansas.
Upward Bound partners with eight Northwest Arkansas school districts to serve high school students (9th-12th grades) from low-income families and high school students from families in which neither parent holds a bachelor's degree. The goal of Upward Bound is to increase the rate at which participants complete secondary education and enroll in and graduate from institutions of postsecondary education.
The program provides instruction and services to promote academic success, including Saturday Academies during the academic year, tutoring, mentoring, college and career planning assistance, cultural enrichment and volunteer opportunities, a six-week long residential Summer Academy, and a summer residential bridge program in which graduating high school seniors earn college credit before beginning postsecondary education.
The University of Arkansas is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer. The university welcomes applications without regard to age, race/color, gender (including pregnancy), national origin, disability, religion, marital or parental status, protected veteran status, military service, genetic information, sexual orientation or gender identity. Persons must have proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment. All applicant information is subject to public disclosure under the Arkansas Freedom of Information Act.
