Position Description:

University of Northern Iowa's Department of Health, Recreation and Community Service seeks internal applications for Department Head at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. Position requires exercising leadership at the department, college, university, state, national and international levels; advocating for departmental and college interests; articulating department and college missions to internal and external constituencies; fostering and promoting the College's vision for diversity and inclusion; recruiting, retaining, and supporting the development of faculty; implementing strategies to attain departmental and college aspirational goals; developing long-term strategic partnerships; implementing fundraising and scholarship initiatives; overseeing departmental operations; and supporting development of new curriculum. The successful candidate will teach one course each fall and spring semester with optional summer teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level in an area of expertise.

Education Requirements:

Earned doctorate in Athletic Training, Health, Leisure/Recreation or related field required.

Required Qualifications:

Successful candidate must demonstrate a record of scholarly excellence, distinguished record of teaching, scholarship, and service that qualifies the candidate for appointment at the rank of Associate/Full professor in the Department of Health, Recreation and Community Service.

Desirable Qualifications:

Evidence of relevant collaborative leadership that demonstrates strong interpersonal, communication, and mentoring skills; and demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
